The Bank Hotel is located along King Street, in the inner west suburb of Newtown. This heritage listed pub was originally built in the Victorian architectural style but was altered in the Federation era and then again when its facade was rebuilt in 1934 in the Art Deco architectural style. The hotel has been decorated with rainbow colours and LGBTIQA+ flags for Sydney WorldPride 2023 which runs from 17 February to 5 March 2023.
...colorful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a pub to hang on a Sunday
ReplyDeleteIt's good because it has indoor and outdoor sections and the food there is great.
DeleteBeautiful architecture, Jim.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim. For some reason the Captcha image isn"t loading on your Contact Me page so I'm writing this as a comment. I came across your blog when researching the Beverley Park house Sunnyside, which I noticed by chance as I walked along the Princes Highway exploring Beverley Park and Kogarah Bay. About three years ago I started a hobby of picking Sydney suburbs at random (using a complete list of Sydney suburbs and a random number generator) and visiting them. I get there by public transport and then walk through the streets pretty thoroughly, taking photos of buildings and scenes which catch my eye and then writing the suburb up in my Facebook open group called "Opaling Sydney. Random suburb explorations." I'm not as thorough as you in my historical research, concentrating more on what things look like now. I tend to be a bit flippant and humourous (well, I think humourous anyway). I explored Beverley Park and Kogarah Bay yesterday (1st March) but haven't posted the write ups yet. That makes 62 Sydney suburbs I've Opaled so far. If you have time (and have a Facebook account) you might like to have a look at some of my efforts. I'll certainly be looking at more of yours. Cheers, Stephen.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, Stephen. I will have a look.
