Newtown, shops and flats

This is part of the facade of a commercial and residential building on the corner of King Street and Wilson Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The heritage listed building built in the Victorian style, once housed a branch of RH Gordon & Co, a retailer of home furnishings. The ground floor has a number of shops and restaurants with flats on the first and second floors.

  3. Still a very glamorous top floor. When people lived there, were they disturbed by the shop noises below?

    1. I'd say the home furnishings retailer took up the space on all the floors above. It was probably converted to residential space later which is still used today. Being in the inner city, I assume residents would be used to the buzz of the place.
