York & George

York & George is a 38-storey mixed use high rise building, named for the two streets that it is situated between. It is flanked by two heritage-listed buildings along York Street, Carlton House and Spiden House, with a public pedestrian walkway (an historic cartway) connecting to George Street under this modern residential tower.

  1. That's nice, I like that it has a bit of curve or twist to it, so not boring. No, I agree with Tom, too tall!

  2. I know ground space is precious in Central Sydney, but it is too tall for me too.

  4. A lot of glass in that building. The views must be wonderful!

    1. Dora, it's new to me too. A cartway is narrower than a laneway. Just wide enough for a horse and cart to pass.

  6. Jim, glad you informed Dora about the cartway otherwise that would have been my question. Learning a new word for me is fun. Thanks. Now, the next question is does this building have eight, nine or ten corners? For a glass and cement building this is very odd but would stabilize during wind storms.
