Mount Lewis, park

Mount Lewis Reserve is located in the western suburb of Mount Lewis. It is unclear how the suburb got its name because it isn't much of a mountain, although this park is the highest point in the local government area of Bankstown, providing distant views.

  2. As signs go, this one means something to people who understand the area. To me is looks like a sign not quite right.

  3. We have a park in Tulsa, OK USA called Turkey Mountain. It's not much of a mountain either.

  9. Most probably Mount Lewis Park was carefully planned and planted, but it still has a very natural look. Not clipped to within an inch of its life. Great for rambling over. Or lying in the sun.

  10. Lily Riani, yes, it's western suburb of Sydney about 18km from the city (or central business district).

  11. There are some high spots there, I wonder is it as high as the other 'Mounts' in Sydney? Mt Druitt, Mt Kuringai, Mt Wilson

  14. Quite right, Julie. There was a ruling a few years back by the Geographical Names Board that all punctuation has now officially been dropped from place names in Australia. You probably already know this and we probably have discussed it on our blogs before.
