St James Court

This view of the old St James Court is from Elizabeth Street. It sits behind the King Street Court. Hyde Park is to the right of this building, across St James Road.

  1. Lovely building! It just looks like a large mansion. Is it still used as law courts?

  4. I love this type of old building--hope there's a parking lot in the back if it's still in use!

  5. I don't think so, ProdigalWife. It's in a heritage precinct, so the buildings in this area were never designed with those sorts of facilities. In recent years it has been used by the law school of the University of Sydney.

  6. Now that the Law School is back up on Main Campus, what is this gorgeous building used for Jim?

  7. It seems the court rooms are still in use. I'm not sure what the rest of the building is being used for at the moment because all the old signage has been removed and there's nothing in its place.

  8. I am trying to give a date and style to sydney's very old buildings and I loved your photo.

But I can't find any details about these particular law courts. Is this building called the Supreme Court of NSW?

    Many thanks

  9. Hels, I believe it is part of the Supreme Court but the building is known as the St James Court. You can see it on this map at the Supreme Court website.
