Black Totem II (left) is a sculpture created by Brett Whiteley and posthumously completed by his wife Wendy Whiteley, Matthew Dillon and Franco Belgiorno-Nettis in 1993. It was installed at the top of Windmill Steps in 2004, on Windmill Street in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. The forecourt also features a number of interesting benches (right) made of weathered timber and stainless steel, which overlook the Millers Point wharf and Sydney Harbour.
That is a pretty huge egg in that nest! The benches are really cool.

ReplyDeleteThe sculptures in your City never fail to amaze me! Beautiful. You know what -- this one reminds me of the Osprey nesting platforms that Fish and Wildlife Service builds in Lakes and Rivers in Oregon -- on top of light poles, or specially installed poles just for them. The birds build big sloppy nests though -- not as neat as these sticks are ;>)

Ann, it's much, much bigger than an emu egg. Maybe a Genyornis egg, which is an extinct, large, flightless bird that lived in Australia until 50 thousand years ago.
