Sydney Airport, sunset

This sunset produced some wonderful colours over some very ordinary buildings on the remote edge of Sydney Airport at Mascot, near General Holmes Drive.

  1. Jim, this is a great photo of contrasts with the blue/pink sky and the strict lines of the front building.

I love to fly home on a Friday at sunset and see the sun drop beneath the clouds and sink into the Gulf of Mexico just before landing. Well, I really like coming home with or without the sunset - hah!

  5. I agree about the ordinariness of the out-buildings. Although you have some interesting repeating happening with the lights etc.

  7. Thanks for the airport picture! I especially enjoy your shots of the control towers since I work in the tower at San Francisco airport.
Did you happen to see a QANTAS B747 leave Sydney with an extra engine the other day? You can see it on: www.visionsofairliners.blogspot.com
    Thanks!

  8. Keith W, the plane with exploding engine made big news over here this week. I heard about the replacement engine being sent over but hadn't seen the photos or footage of it. Thanks.

  27. lotusleaf, it's a high security area but it's also close to a public road so it was easy to get close to the fence.
