Prince Alfred Park, Oh Alfred!

Prince Alfred Park is a park in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills which is currently being reconstructed. A new children's playground, tennis and basketball courts have opened but the new swimming pool is still to be completed. The 'Oh Alfred! Reflections of Prince Alfred Park' was an art project that was part of the Art and About Sydney festival. The Surry Hills community of residents and school children worked with artists to turn the fences around the construction area into artwork.

  1. Oh, Jim, your city does have fun, doesn't it! There is an energy/laughter that I feel in many of the posts from Australia. Maybe because it's such a young country in comparison with most of the the others. Whatever, I love it! I also love the Prince Alfred Park and, of course, more of your beautiful blue skies! Great post for the day as always! Enjoy your week!

  8. I was only in Sydney once, in 1982, for a few days. I enjoyed it very much, but didn't get the fun feel of it that shows in your blog. Thank you for giving me a completely different view of your city.

What a pity they all have to coem down again.

  13. Ann, they did spend quite a while putting all this together. I saw them on a couple of weekends, having a picnic and working on their artwork.
