The steps of the Sydney Opera House, viewed from the Tarpeian Way Gate steps, which lead up to the Royal Botanic Gardens. It has been dubbed the 'Oprah House' this week, since American chat show host Oprah Winfrey is recording a couple of shows on the steps here tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteTomorrow will be interesting and most probably irritating. Looks like Macquarie Street and Prince Albert Road will be closed because of her Ophrahness. Wonder if she'll drive by in a cavalcade, like the Pope. Can't believe the amount of money we are wasting on her.

ReplyDeleteVP, I didn't know about the Tarpeian Rock until you mentioned it and I just did some research and learnt about the Roman Forum. There's a steep cliff behind the Opera House, that was created when the rock at Bennelong Point was cut away to build a road, which was named Tarpeian Way.

ReplyDeleteFrancisca, I didn't go to the taping but you couldn't escape the media coverage of it here in Australia. My sister was invited to be in the audience and said there was an incredible buzz there with 6,000 people attending each show. She also said that Oprah's interaction with audience before and after the show was better than the actual show or guest interviews.
