Government House, garden (Theme Day: Fountains)

The fountain in the formal gardens of Government House, surrounded by the Royal Botanic Gardens and looking out towards Sydney Harbour. It was the official residence of 27 Governors from 1846 to 1996. Since then, the Historic Houses Trust has managed Government House as a museum and a 'working State House' with public guided tours, government, community and cultural events taking place there every week.

  1. This is a very stately fountain. Your decision to capture them in a straight-on, symmetrical view emphasizes its formality. Nice shots.

  15. A perfect garden and fountain. Funnily enough when I think of Australia I think of the wide open spaces and the wildness, which I adore - not this - not that it's not lovely in its own way.

  25. Beautiful photos, J Bar and oh so stately. I can imagine ladies in crinolines strolling along that pathway, their gowns gently swaying, their parasols raised to protect from the sun. Such a lovely place to see.
