Double Bay, wharf

This private wharf is located on Sydney Harbour, in the eastern suburb of Double Bay. It's for exclusive use by the residents of the nearby harbourside houses and apartments. This was viewed from the boardwalk around Redleaf Pool.

  4. Now you have me annoyed. This is one of my pet peeves: that some land-owners have exclusive use of harbour foreshore.

Other than that, the view from Redleaf Pool is one of the great pleasures of living in this city.

  5. Julie, it happens along the rivers too like the Georges River and Port Hacking Estuary.

  15. Noting Julies comment my in-house brains trust says that these are waterfront tenancies (govt land) and that the public can have access provided they don't interfere with the infrastructure.

  16. Joan, in theory this may be true but often the access is restricted or impossible so that not many of the general public can use them.

  17. my bro lives up on the Gold coast on a private island, and they all they have private little jetties.

The thing about these private jetties are no private at all people come up in boats , steal things and drive off again.
