Sydney Opera House, Millennial Wallscape

"Millennial Wallscape" is a mural on a construction hoarding, around a building work site office, on the southern forecourt of the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay. The six metre high, panoramic artwork was commissioned to celebrate the recent 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House. It was created by Reg Mombassa and features gum tree trunks, suburban architecture, technological infrastructure, genetically modified flora and fauna and Sydney's global icons: the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

    1. He quite possibly has been on something. lol. Reg Mombassa is a well known musician who was in a band called Hoodoo Gurus and became an artist with his paintings adorning Mambo surfwear for many years.

  2. It's so beautiful! I hope they will be saving it. They did something similar at Disney World while building the new Fantsyland

  4. A great mural, beats having just a dull old wire fence around the construction site.

  12. This looks like modern day surrealism. I especially like the eyes in the trees. I wonder what happens to the work once the construction is complete? Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  16. hee hee... There's no rule saying the bridge you post to Sunday Bridges can't be a painted bridge! It's still a bridge in «Louis'» opinion and a welcome contribution to the meme!
