The Government House Gate is one of the main entrances of the Royal Botanic Gardens. It stands beside the Conservatorium of Music and leads to Government House. This view is from just inside the Royal Botanic Gardens, looking back towards Conservatorium Road, Macquarie Street and the Sydney skyline.
Very nice Jim.
ReplyDeleteMaybe juxtaposition is the word. Whatever, the old framed by the new.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely entry way and a lovely image! Sydney is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery tall skyscrapers.
ReplyDeleteQuite a surprise to see these quaint, oldfashioned brick pillars, dwarfed by the high risers in the background! Great shot, though.
ReplyDeleteThey're actually sandstone.
DeleteI love that city skyline behind the gates.
ReplyDeleteThe RBG and the Domain are a lovely area, Jim. Good angle to this shot.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo Jim.
ReplyDeleteGreat juxtaposition in photo of the old/new, small, large ~ thanks ~ Happy Weekend ^_^

I love beautiful Botanic Gardens in the middle of busy concrete cities. Those 19th century planners certainly knew how important open, green spaces would be in our crowded lives.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, I've already got in! Nice to 'look back' at the entrance!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your RBG is very accessible to the public!
ReplyDeleteimpressive!
ReplyDeleteNice one Jim.. one of my favourite places to visit!
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeleteThe pillars look like dwarves! :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful - just like I remember it when we visited there some years ago.
