The Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is located high on the cliff, at the southern end of Coogee Beach, in the eastern suburb of Coogee. The club was founded in 1907 by a group of concerned locals who thought that the bathers needed protection from the dangers of the surf. The original clubhouse was a wooden shack built in 1910 which was replaced this art deco design clubhouse.
The club itself might have been Edwardian but it seems that the building is Art Deco (1925-40). I love the sharp, geometric lines and the step-shaped decorative architecture.
