Chippendale, One Central Park

Central Park is an urban redevelopment of the former Kent Street Brewery located on the corner of Broadway and Abercrombie Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. One Central Park consists of two residential towers above a retail complex, designed by architect Jean Nouvel and artist and botanist Patrick Blanc. The public park in the centre of the precinct climbs the sides of the glass towers to form a lush canopy. The vines, leafy foliage and blooms of 250 species of Australian flowers and plants spring out between floors.

  1. Jim, that's an amazing picture. So unusual to see the contrast of the plants and the glass on the building.

  14. Thats a great idea - I saw some green walls in London - but wondered how they would cope in Australia - and the answer seems to be that they would cope fine!

  16. All that greenery hanging down adds interest to what otherwise would be just a plain building. Nice perspective for the shot..

  17. Well, at least they have tried to soften those ugly straight lines and the box-like building with some greenery!
Many thanks for contributing to Floral Friday Fotos.
