Chippendale, Central Park

Central Park is an urban redevelopment of the former Kent Street Brewery, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. This view is from the middle of the park, looking past the Halo kinetic sculpture, created by Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford, towards the two residential towers of One Central Park, designed by architect Jean Nouvel and artist and botanist Patrick Blanc. The taller tower features a hovering cantilever and heliostat with an assembly of motorised mirrors that capture sunlight and direct the rays down onto Central Park’s gardens. At night, an LED art installation by conceptual artist Yann KersalĂ© creates a shimmering display in the sky.

  3. The roof is strange, and totally unexpected. Intriguing, to say the least.

  4. Jim, I am astounded at the structure. I remember when you posted the halo this last week, but this cantilever is really something. Great architecture and a great picture.
