Watsons Bay, restaurant

Doyles on the Beach is a restaurant along Marine Parade, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. The Doyle family opened Australia's first seafood restaurant on this site in 1885, on the foreshore of Watsons Bay overlooking Sydney Harbour.

  2. This looks very inviting and the walk to the beach really couldn't be any shorter. What are we eating?

    1. Spoilt for choice here. Some of the names might be unfamiliar overseas but the menu includes Lobster, Prawns, Balmain Bugs, Calamari, Scallops. Mussels, Salmon, Tuna, Snapper, Whiting, Flathead, Trout, John Dory and of course Barramundi. About the only thing they don't have is Octopus.

  5. Flanagan’s Afloat opened in 1973, one of a whole series of fish restaurants owned by Oliver Shaul. The very first Sydney restaurant we went to, on arriving back in Australia in 1975, was Flanagan's Afloat. I LOVED it!

This looks like an excellent successor.
