Martin Place, fountains
These three bronze bowl fountains are located at the top of Martin Place, between Macquarie Street and Phillip Street. They represent the washrooms found at the rear of the Georgian houses in Sydney. They were placed at the rear of the houses, with water carried from the Tank Stream for use in the kitchen and washing clothes. The flowers and plants are part of the 'Living Colour' floral displays. The heritage North Wing of Sydney Hospital can be seen in the distance.
Not sure why, but this scenic display looks very French to me. I think of Versailles. The bowl fountains are enchanting.
