Ultimo, Dalgety Woolstores warehouse

The former Dalgety Woolstores is bounded by Wattle Street, William Henry Street and Jones Street, in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. It was built in 1895 in the Federation architectural style. An extensive fire in 1990 destroyed the timber internal structure. The building was refurbished in 1992 as two separate apartment developments with a concrete internal structure.

  9. love your Sydney shots Jim...I really like how the building's windows step down levels to accommodate the slope of the hill. Thanks for sharing at Cath@Home for Fun Friday Favourites.

  10. It's good to know that the building is still being used...as apartments now. And the design/architecture is really interesting...unique.

  11. Handsome building. It's great that they kept the building instead of toring it down. It's a pity that many great buildings were demolished in Helsinki in the 1960-70s. Fortunately nowadays old buildings are appreciated.

  12. I noticed that the building was built on a slope. It would have been a challenge to build that beautiful building.
