Sydney Hospital, North Wing

The North Wing of Sydney Hospital is located along Macquarie Street, viewed from the rear. This heritage listed building is part of a three building complex with a central administration block linked to north and south ward wings. They were designed by Thomas Rowe and John Kirkpatrick and constructed between 1884 and 1894 in the Victorian architectural style.

  1. Very like Queen's Hospital in Honolulu's original older portion!

  2. I like the cheerful color of the trim -- makes it look less institutional.

    1. Jeannette, they just don't build them like they used to.

  5. Great balconies and arches! Like when places built for common purposes are listed as heritage buildings.

  6. Is the trim metal work? It looks like it, and it is beautiful. I wish we painted our buildings more colorful here in America.
