This hand painted sign is on the wall of a Ultimo Road entrance of Paddy's Markets, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. Paddy's Markets have operated in Haymarket since 1834 and this is part of a series of murals designed by a local artist David Doyle to mimic some of the past advertising signs. Other signs at other entrances can be seen here and here.
It has character.

DeleteMakes me want to come inside and see what is for sale. It does its job well.
ReplyDeleteNostalgic and informative. Out West it's hard to imagine finding any business from 1834. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
