King Street Wharf 3
King Street Wharf 3 is the former ferry wharf located at King Street Wharf which has now be replaced by Barangaroo Wharf. It was used by Sydney Ferries First Fleet and RiverCat class ferries operating F3 Parramatta River and F4 Darling Harbour services from 2010 until 2017 but will be reopened for use by private operators.

ReplyDeleteI don't like giving public spaces or facilities to private profit-makers. Shame really... Barangaroo Wharf is on a great part of the harbour.

ReplyDeleteI like that a person is sitting there. Makes it feel like he is actually waiting for a ferry boat ride. Secret: I love a ferry boat ride. I have driven a rental car on a ferry taken it across a body of water then explore the other side and return for the ferry boat ride. Sometimes I see mishaps and wonder why I do this. Life is an adventure that is why I do it!

I was thinking of you and your photos when a friend of mine posted about her trip to Oz recently. I have always (yes, always: all my life) loved a ferry ride. When I was small, we lived in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, and the only way to get from one side of Okanagan Lake to the other was by ferry. Then a bridge was built (and the ribbon cut by one of the Royals...had to have been Princess Margaret) and years later, a new bridge. Marvels of modern engineering, perhaps, but my heart always remembers the ferry.
