Banksia, St Savvas of Kalymnos Orthodox Church

St Savvas of Kalymnos Orthodox Church is located along the Princes Highway, in the southern suburb of Banksia. This church building was formerly used by the Banksia Free Church, which broke away from St. Paul's Church of England in Kogarah in 1890 to form their own congregation. It became an Orthodox Church in 2016 and features a reproduction of an icon of the saint on the windows.

  1. A beautiful, white Orthodox church.
It is not built according to traditional architecture. Wonderful picture.

  4. Interesting mural Jim, I like that it was adapted to that area covering windows as wells. Thanks for contributing to Monday Murals.

  5. Interesting that it is painted on what was first a window of some kind. Wonder if it is still translucent.
