This lamp is part of the Jubilee Fountain, located on the corner of Glebe Point Road and Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. This drinking fountain was erected in 1909 to commemorate the golden jubilee of Glebe as a municipality. This bronze coach light is surmounted on a sandstone column with Corinthian capital and ring banding with a floral motif.
It's a lovely fountain/lamp -- such intricate iron work.
ReplyDeleteSuch nice craftsmanship in the lantern
ReplyDeleteQuite ornate details.
ReplyDeleteVery fancy yet up-to-date. LED maybe?
ReplyDeleteYes. Good observation. It does look like they've updated it with an LED.
DeleteNice that something from 1909 is still there.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember this Jim. Next time when I'm in Glebe I'll have to look out for it.
ReplyDeleteAlthough last time I was there I was very distracted.
I was walking the the streets of the shopping centre of Glebe, my late hubby was in RPA with brain cancer. Looking for a soft pillow case for his head to alleviate the rough feel of the hospital ones on his surgical site.
I found a perfect soft one in a shop there ☺️
