Looking across a billabong along the Cooks River from the boardwalk in Gough Whitlam Park, in the inner west suburb of Undercliffe. A billabong is an Australian term for an oxbow lake.
I learned from here today, Jim. I didn't know what an oxbow lake was. I've visited everynow and then Carter Lake, Iowa. It is in the Nebraska side of the Missouri River but originated on the Iowa side so now it is still Iowa regardless of where the river decides to be. Billabong I had thought was an Australia animal. That, even though it has been in a song once popular here. Nice picture of yours. ..
An oxbow lake! I guess where I live we have lots of billabongs then.
ReplyDeleteLooks quite serene.
