Sydney Fire Station
The Sydney Fire Station in Castlereagh Street was built in 1888 and was extended north in 1907 keeping to the same style. The new station with the glass facade that sits further north was completed in 2003, when the old building was restored.
Now this is the FS I was waxing lyrical about yesterday. I did not realise it was quite that extensive. The firies in there are very nice blokes ...
ReplyDeleteThey are. I've met a few of the firies at the Edinburgh Castle Hotel, over the years. We have a view of the fire station from my office, across the road.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing building. I had a look inside during Sydney Open last year. Fascinating place, full of hot, young firies (you didn't want to know that, did you).

ReplyDeleteInteresting meld of old and new. Much like our National Museum, the new extension was all glass but it also respect the old part of the building particularly where you can see the rotunda through the new glass ceiling.
