Captain Cook, Sydney Statues: Project!

This bronze sculpture in Hyde Park is of Captain James Cook, the English explorer who was the first European to navigate and map the eastern coastline of Australia. The sculpture has been dressed up for the Sydney Statues: Project! as part of the Art & About Sydney festival. A photo of this statue at other times can be seen here.

  8. Yes, Ann, I had to include the shot from the back to show off the magnificent boat on his cape.

  9. That's just too funny! Dressing up the statues just for fun. We don't do anything 'just for fun' anymore. You made me miss it. Terribly.

  11. Literature was not my favorite subject. I enjoyed just plain ole English. However, I certainly enjoyed my trip and history of Captain Cook.
