Darling Harbour, paddlewheel steamboat

This paddlewheel steamboat is moored at King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour. The Harbour Ballroom is one of two Sydney Showboats purpose-built in 1987 with a theatre-style layout to host luxury dinner cruises and cabaret shows on Sydney Harbour.

Balmain East, ferry

This ferry is arriving at the ferry wharf in the inner west suburb of Balmain East. "Pemulwuy"  is an Emerald class ferry operated by Sydney Ferries which entered service on Sydney Harbour in 2017. It is named after "Pemulwuy, the Aboriginal warrior.

This lantern at The Rocks is located at the entrance of Cahill Walk along the Sydney Harbour Bridge which links to Milsons Point.

The Giant Bauble is an oversized, 6 metre tall Christmas decoration, located at the forecourt of the International Convention Centre Sydney at Darling Harbour.

This large Christmas Tree is located in the Martin Place pedestrian mall, rising up towards the clock tower of the General Post Office.

Pitt Street, skybridge, Christmas trees

These Christmas trees are located along the skybridge walkway which links the Myer Department Store to Westfield Sydney Centrepoint over Pitt Street Mall. They have been created by Avatree and have drawn inspiration from Australian eucalyptus trees.

Australian National Maritime Museum

The Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, viewed from Barangaroo. The Australian National Maritime Museum was designed by Phillip Cox and opened in 1991. The museum houses exhibitions that explore Australia's links with the sea and how maritime activities and issues have shaped the lives of people in Australia. The Endeavour replica and the Cape Bowling Green Lighthouse can be seen here. The museum has a large new sign on this side.

Glebe, houses

"Glebe Villa" or "Redland" and "Carlyle" are a pair of two-storey attached terrace houses along Glebe Point Road, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. The heritage listed houses were built in 1884 in the Victorian Italianate style.

Glebe, cinema

The former Valhalla Cinema is located along Glebe Point Road, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. The cinema opened in 1937 as the Astor and operated until 1959. It reopened in 1968 and operated until 2005 under various names such as the Filmor Red Star Cinema, the New Arts Cinema and the Curzon Cinema and the Valhalla from 1979. The heritage listed façade and row of shops were designed by Kaberry & Chard and built in the art deco style. The cinema was converted into offices in 2008.

Glebe, mural

This mural is on the side wall of the former Valhalla Cinema, along Glebe Point Road, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. Titled "Kelly & her Gang", I suspect Kelly is or was, a local identity and her gang were her colourful friends from the inner city. The title is a play on the Australian film "Ned Kelly and His Gang" released in 1906 and believed to be the first narrative movie ever made in the world. It tells the story of bushranger Ned Kelly and his gang of outlaws.

Glebe, St John's Bishopthorpe Church

St John's Bishopthorpe Church is an Anglican church located on the corner of Glebe Point Road and St Johns Road, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. This heritage listed church was designed by Edmund Blacket and John Horbury Hunt and built in 1870 in the Victorian Romanesque style. The vestry and tower, both designed by Cyril Blacket, were completed in the early twentieth century.

Walsh Bay, wharf and marina

The marina along Pier 7 at Walsh Bay at dusk, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point. The heritage listed Walsh Bay wharves were originally part of Sydney's port facilities but have now been converted into theatres, offices, hotels, apartments, restaurants, cafes and shops. The former warehouse building on Piers 6/7 is used for apartments.

Chifley Tower

Chifley Tower is located at 2 Chifley Square and is bounded by Hunter, Phillip and Bent Streets. It contains an office tower and the Chifley Plaza retail area. Built in 1992, Chifley Tower is the second tallest skyscraper in Sydney, at 241 metres when measured to the top of its spire. The square and tower are named after Ben Chifley, a former Prime Minister of Australia. This view is from Hunter Street towards Elizabeth Street and has been made possible from this angle following the demolition of a number of buildings along Hunter Street for a new development.

This lifeguard tower is located along the concrete promenade at Clovelly Beach, in the eastern suburb of Clovelly.

Botany, war memorial

The Botany War Memorial is located in Boralee Park, on the corner of Bay Street and Daniel Street, in the eastern suburb of Botany. It was unveiled by Governor Sir Walter Davidson KCMG on May 5th 1923. It features a luted granite column surmounted by a sphere and crown, resting on a sandstone and granite base on three steps. The names of soldiers have been engraved on polished granite. Inscription reads: Their name liveth evermore.

Hyde Park Obelisk

The Hyde Park Obelisk is located on the western edge of Hyde Park, along Elizabeth Street. This view is from the park towards OTC House, an office building on the corner of Bathurst Street. This monument was unveiled in 1857 by Lord Mayor George Thornton and was originally used as a sewerage vent, so was jokingly referred to as Thorton's Scent Bottle. It is 22 metres high, including the 6.5 metre high square sandstone base and a filigreed bronze pyramid vent at the top. This obelisk was modelled on Cleopatra's Needle, on the banks of London's Thames River. The red, green and white banners feature Christmas decorations.

South Coogee Public School, mural

This mural of a Humpback Whale is on the school hall at South Coogee Public School along Moverly Road, in the eastern suburb of South Coogee.

South Coogee, St Paul's Anglican Church

St Paul's Anglican Church is located on the corner of Gregory Street and Nymboida Street, in the eastern suburb of South Coogee. As you can see from the sign, last night parishioners participated in the annual "Carols By The Sea" at nearby Grant Reserve at Coogee Beach.

Millers Point, Moore's Wharf

A view of Moore's Wharf at dusk, located on Walsh Bay in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. It is the Operational Headquarters of the Port Authority of New South Wales. The vessels moored at Moore's Wharf are used by Sydney Ports Corporation on Sydney Harbour. The wharf was established in the 1830s by Henry Moore, the first Australian P&O Cruises agent. The sandstone warehouse was built by William Long using convict labour and stone quarried on site. The warehouse was originally located further west but in 1978 was moved, stone by stone, to its present location.

Rozelle, sign

This sign for a gourmet food delivery service has been painted on the side of a shop on the corner of National Street and Prosper Lane, in the inner west suburb of Rozelle. It is now a butcher's shop but the hand painted sign for the previous business remains.

Balmain East, ferry

This ferry is departing from the ferry wharf in the inner west suburb of Balmain East. The Emerald class ferry operated by Sydney Ferries entered service on Sydney Harbour in 2017 and is named after "May Gibbs", the popular Australian children's author. The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Barangaroo Reserve are in the distance.

Balmain East, warehouse

This heritage listed former warehouse is located beside Iloura Reserve, on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour, in the inner west suburb of Balmain East. The J. Fenwick & Co. Boat Store was built in 1875 for the Fenwick Tug Boat Company, which was the earliest tug boat operator on Sydney Harbour. An adjacent administration building was demolished in 2008 to extend the open space of Iloura Reserve and the building was restored in 2011 with a new forecourt, turf banks and terraced outlooks.

Redfern, graffiti art

This mural is on the side of a warehouse on the corner of Cleveland Street and Woodburn Street, in the inner city suburb of Redfern. It was created by graffiti artist Phibs who has created a few murals around the city including two in Newtown and Stanmore.

Darling Harbour, catamaran (Theme Day: Joy)

The Fantasea Joy is a 23 metre catamaran ferry which is often seen cruising around Sydney Harbour. It is seen here at Aquarium Wharf in Darling Harbour, in front of Pyrmont Bridge.
