Darling Point, relief sculpture

This sandstone retaining wall in the gardens of McKell Park, in the eastern suburb of Darling Point. The relief sculpture is of a Frangipani plant, native to Mexico, it also grows well in the hot dry climates of Australia.

Matraville, Pioneer Memorial Park, First Fleeters Memorial

The First Fleeters Memorial is in Pioneer Memorial Park, which is part of the the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, in the eastern suburb of Matraville. It was installed here in 2016 to commemorate twelve First Fleeters reinterred here with eleven granite panels on the perimeter etched with the ships’ names, each listing the names of those who sailed with the First Fleet. This statue of Captain James Cook heralding his discovery of the east coast of Australia is part of the memorial.

Auburn, Botanic Gardens, lake

This lake is part of the Australian Native Gardens, located in Auburn Botanic Gardens, in the western suburb of Auburn. The botanic gardens were established in 1977 and cover an area of 9.7 hectares (24 acres).

Eveleigh, Carriageworks, art

CarriageWorks is a multi-venue arts centre in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. It is housed in the former Eveleigh railway yards which were built between 1880 and 1889. The Carriageworks sign structure has been used to create a unique neon artwork called "Remember Me" by Indigenous artist Reko Rennie. 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Captain James Cook’s first landfall at Botany Bay and the HMB Endeavour’s charting of the East Coast of Australia. The artist has responded with a present-day memorial in recognition of the frontier wars, the massacres and the survival of the original sovereigns of this country, the Aboriginal people of Australia. He asks us to consider the personal impact of our past and how history is made today.

Darling Point, bench

A decorative sculpted bench in the gardens of McKell Park, in the eastern suburb of Darling Point. The Bird of Paradise or Strelitzia is the plant next to it with the striking bird-like orange flowers, native to Africa but grows well in Australia

Tower Three is one of three skyscrapers known as International Towers, in the inner city suburb of Barangaroo. The three towers were built in 2016 in the block bounded by Barangaroo Avenue, Watermans Quay, Scotch Road and Exchange Place. Auburn, Baptist Church

Auburn Baptist Church is located along Harrow Road, in the western suburb of Auburn. This heritage listed church was built in 1928, in the Inter War Romanesque style.

Auburn, Botanic Gardens, Japanese Gardens Lake

The Japanese Gardens Lake is located in Auburn Botanic Gardens, in the western suburb of Auburn. The botanic gardens were established in 1977 and cover an area of 9.7 hectares (24 acres). The Japanese Gardens are one of the main attractions.

Pyrmont, Johnstons Bay, sunset

A sunset view across Johnstons Bay to Glebe Island in Rozelle from the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. The pylons and remnants of an old wharf have been retained as a 'pole garden', beside Pirrama Park.

Regents Park, railway station

The entrance to Regents Park railway station from Park Road, in the western suburb of Regents Park. The station opened in 1924 but the entrances and concourse have been upgraded in recent years.

Regents Park, railway station

Regents Park railway station was built in 1924 and is located in the western suburb of Regents Park. The original station opened in 1912 when a line was built from Lidcombe but was moved here when the line was extended to Cabramatta. This station was once a junction of the Bankstown and Liverpool railway lines but is now only served by Sydney Trains T3 Bankstown line services.

Hurstville, mural

This mural is in Hurstville Interchange Open Air Gallery Park, along Forest Road, in the southern suburb of Hurstville. The park features temporary public art which changes every few months with different themes. This triptych mural was created by Sydney artist Chris Yee for the Lunar New Year to celebrate the Year of The Rat.

Matraville, Pioneer Memorial Park, First Fleeters Memorial

The First Fleeters Memorial is in Pioneer Memorial Park, which is part of the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, in the eastern suburb of Matraville. Watsons Bay, wharf

The Pilot Station Wharf in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. The Watsons Bay Pilot Station operated under the authority of the Harbour Master and was responsible for providing pilot services to ocean going vessels coming into Sydney Harbour. Since pilot operations moved to Port Botany in 2008, it is now used by the converted Boating Safety Education Centre.

Watsons Bay, wharf

Doyles on the Wharf Takeaway and Sydney Game Fishing Club are on either end of the ferry wharf in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. "Bungaree" is an Emerald class ferry waiting on the other side of the wharf.

Watsons Bay, bench

This inscribed sandstone memorial bench is built into the wall around Robertson Park, near Watsons Bay ferry wharf, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. It was designed by architect Leslie Wilkinson and was erected in 1929. The inscription reads: To commemorate Robert Watson after whom this bay is named. Quarter-Master of HMS Sirius 1786 - 1790, Signal man South Head - 1791 - 1811, Pilot and Harbour Master 1811 - 1816, Superintendent of Macquarie Light House 1818. Died 1st November 1819.

Sydney Olympic Park, Stadium Australia

Stadium Australia, known commercially as ANZ Stadium is located in the western suburb of Sydney Olympic Park.  It was originally built in 1999 as the Sydney Olympic Stadium for the 2000 Summer Olympic Games. It has been hosted many sports including Rugby League, Rugby Union, Australian Rules Football, Soccer and Cricket but also many events and concerts. There were controversial plans to demolish this stadium in recent years and then plans to renovate but these have been scrapped by the state government in order to focus the funds on economic growth following the corona virus crisis.

Newtown, mural

This mural is painted on the side of a house on the corner of Mary Street and Lennox Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. "Hide and Seek" was created by visual artist Kyle Hughes-Odgers and aims to incorporate ideas of nature and life in a colourful and playful way. A game of hide and seek between a giant and three small children hiding in the giants pocket.

St George's Anglican Church was built in 1955 and is located on the corner of St Georges Parade and Minnamorra Avenue, in the south western suburb of Earlwood.

Botany, wetlands

A view of Mill Pond from the bridge on Botany Road, in the eastern suburb of Botany. From 1859 to 1886, water from the Botany Swamps was pumped to the city and surrounding suburbs. Industry in the area drained the natural swamp and by 1869, the area was no longer considered to be a reliable source of water.

Vaucluse, South Head Signal Station

The South Head Signal Station is located along Old South Head Road, in the eastern suburb of Vaucluse. A lookout post was established on the site in 1790 for ships arriving at the heads of Sydney Harbour. This sandstone tower was designed by Mortimer Lewis and built in the 1840s and in the 1890s raised to the present four storeys. It ceased as a signal station in 1992 but was taken over by Coast Guard Sydney and has operated since as a Search and Rescue Base.

Banksia, Gardiner Park (Theme Day: Park)

Gardiner Park is located on the corner of Wolli Road and Gardiner Avenue, in the southern suburb of Banksia. It features cricket pitches and playing fields for rugby league and soccer. This rose garden is alongside pathways from the Gardiner Avenue entrance.
