"Sound Sculpture" is a functional artwork in Solander Park, in the inner city suburb of Erskineville. These bronze horns, created by Greg Stonehouse and Susan Milne in 2001, amplify the sound of the old creek whose passage has been channelled into pipes underneath the park. The stormwater is collected, treated and used to irrigate the park.

Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay
A seagull takes in the views at Cockle Bay at Darling Harbour including Pyrmont Bridge. This swing bridge carries the elevated monorail track which mains stationary, even when the bridge swings open for large boats to pass, so that the monorails can continue to cross without interruption.

Darling Park, Sydney Monorail
The Sydney Monorail is seen here departing from Darling Park Monorail Station, at the edge of the city's central business district. It is on the corner of Sussex Street and Market Street, on the eastern end of the Pyrmont Bridge, heading towards Darling Harbour and then Chinatown. After 25 years of service, the monorail will cease operating on 30 June 2013 and will be demolished to make way for a new development. The sign painted on the side announces: Last Chance! Farewell Sydney 30.06.2013.

Darling Harbour, Sign for the Dream
"Sign for the Dream" is an artwork on the wall and lawn at the front of the Sydney Convention Centre at Darling Harbour. It was created by David Humphries and is also known as the Olympic Journey Celebration Pathway Mural. The Olympic Journey was a national celebration of the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics featuring parades, picnics and exhibitions that took place in 1997. It is comprised of terrazzo discs designed to represent the communities visited in The Olympic Journey, inside the form of a rainbow serpent. The rainbow serpent is a creator god in the mythology of Aboriginal Australia.

Darling Harbour, Equation
"Equation" is a contemporary sculpture located out the front of the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre at Darling Harbour. It was created by Ken Unsworth in 1989 and consists of three concrete cubes and four bronze rings.

Darling Harbour, Exhibition Centre
The Sydney Exhibition Centre is adjacent to Tumbalong Park at Darling Harbour. Along with the nearby Sydney Convention Centre, the Sydney Exhibition Centre was officially opened in 1988. It was extended for the 2000 Summer Olympics and contains five exhibition halls. Although they have only been around for 25 years, both will close in December 2013 for a major redevelopment of the site.

Chinatown, Sydney Monorail
The Sydney Monorail, also known as the Metro Monorail, is a single loop monorail that connects the city's central business district with Darling Harbour and Chinatown. After 25 years of service, the monorail will cease operating on 30 June 2013 and be demolished to make way for the development of the new Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct in Darling Harbour. It is seen here turning the corner from Harbour Street to Liverpool Street, near the Australian Chinese Ex-Services Monument. The sign painted on the side announces: Last Chance! Farewell Sydney 30.06.2013.

The Sydney Opera House illuminated for the Vivid Sydney Festival, a festival of light, music and ideas which ran from 24 May to 10 June 2013. The animated artworks for this year's Lighting of the Sails projection, which was called "Play", were created by The Spinifex Group. There were so many good designs that I had to show some more today.

Walsh Bay, Vivid Sydney, Glitz
"Glitz" is an artwork that was created for this year's Vivid Sydney Festival, which ran from 24 May to 10 June 2013. It was created by Mark Hammer and Andre Kecskes using coloured lights and 100 mirrorballs suspended above one of the entrances from Hickson Road of the former warehouse buildings along Walsh Bay.

Walsh Bay, The Promenade, Vivid Festival, Moths to a Flame
"Moths to a Flame" was an art installation that hung from the lamps along The Promenade at Walsh Bay, as part of the Vivid Sydney Festival. The sculptures of net and gold moths were created by Ruth McDermott and Ben Baxter. The colourful illuminations on the Sydney Harbour Bridge can just be seen behind a warehouse building on one of the wharves.

The Sydney skyline illuminated for the annual the Vivid Sydney Festival, a festival of light, music and ideas which ran from 24 May to 10 June 2013. This view is from the Overseas Passenger Terminal looking towards Circular Quay railway station, the Cahill Expressway and the Museum of Contemporary Art, rising up to the city skyscrapers. These are just some of the colours and designs featured in "Colours of Vivid" on the Gateway Building, Sydney Harbour Marriott, Gold Fields House, Grosvenor House, Four Season Hotel and Shangri-La Hotel.

The Sydney Opera House was illuminated for the Vivid Sydney Festival, a festival of light, music and ideas which ran from 24 May to 10 June 2013. This year's Lighting of the Sails projection was "Play" which was created by The Spinifex Group. The artwork featured striking images including such Sydney icons as Luna Park and the legendary Sharpie's Golf House sign.

Walsh Bay, Vivid Sydney, Rats
"Rats" is an interactive artwork that was created for this year's Vivid Sydney Festival, which ran from 24 May to 10 June 2013. Rats references the rodent invasion that took place in the Walsh Bay area in 1900, arriving on ships from Europe and resulting in an outbreak of bubonic plague. Buildings in the area were demolished and a new rat-proof sea wall was built below the wharves from Millers Point to Dawes Point. These rats floating in the water beside Pier 8/9 in Walsh Bay are crafted out of material associated with the sea and stare out of the night water and screech, evoking an eerie feeling. It was created by Hassell Studio architects Jason Hammond, Sarah Meyer and Bridget Tregonning.

The Rocks, Vivid Sydney, Planet: Under Construction
"Planet: Under Construction" is an artwork that was created for this year’s Vivid Sydney Festival, which just ended last night. It was created using construction cones in a spherical lighting sculpture that mimics a planet and was hanging below the railway bridge to Circular Quay Railway Station. The design team behind the project were Guillermo Fernandez, Young Lee, Penny Craswell, Danny Wehbe, Amanda Gore, Thomas Hale, India Collins, Sophie Bennett, Mohammed Khaled, Darryl Chandler, Paul King, Adnan Saric, Jeremy Sparks and Richard Cale.

The Rocks, Vivid Sydney, Sunflowers
"Sunflowers" is a floral light projection for this year’s Vivid Sydney Festival, which ends tonight. It is projected on the wall of a former warehouse building on the corner of George Street and Hickson Road at The Rocks. It was created by lighting designer Mark Hammer with technical management by Andre Kecskes.

Sydney Harbour Bridge, Vivid Sydney, Colour The Bridge
The Sydney Harbour Bridge has been illuminated for the Vivid Sydney Festival, running from 24 May to 10 June 2013. "Colour The Bridge" uses interactive lighting technology which allows visitors to choose their own colours to light up the bridge. It uses over 100,000 energy-efficient LED lights and designed especially for Vivid Sydney by 32 Hundred Lighting and Intel. This angle includes part of Pier One and is viewed from Pier 2 of the wharf at Walsh Bay.
