Metamorphosis is a major artwork created in 2008 which is located along the walkway in Waterfront Park, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. The pieces that make up "Metamorphosis", like the basic elements of the site, remain constant, only their orientation and one's perception of them changes. Waterfront Park is part of Jacksons Landing, the residential and commercial property redevelopment that has taken place on the former site of the former site of a sugar refinery, rum distillery and cooperage which built rum barrels, operated by the Colonial Refining Company, later CSR Limited. The newer apartments in the background near the water are called Reflections and the older redeveloped building is called Cooperage, with a reminder to its previous use.
