Enmore, shop mural

This mural is on the side of a shop and residence located on the corner of Enmore Road and Phillip Street, in the inner west suburb of Enmore. It was created by graffiti artist Phibs who has created quite a few murals around the inner city suburbs. Alfalfa House is a not-for-profit organic food cooperative that provides minimally packaged and processed affordable organic food to its members and visitors to the shop.

Homebush Bay, monument

This monument is located at the entrance of the brickpit ring walkway, which stands above a pond, in the western suburb of Homebush Bay. The gears have been salvaged from machinery in the old brickworks here, near Sydney Olympic Park.

St Mary's Cathedral, spires

The spires of St Mary's Cathedral, viewed from the north east corner of Hyde Park. This sandstone cathedral was built in the Gothic Revival style in stages from 1868, with the spires only completed in 2002.

Circular Quay, ferries

The Pam Burridge is a HarbourCat Class ferry waiting at the wharf at Circular Quay on Sydney Harbour. The Friendship is a First Fleet Class ferry, seen behind it departing from the wharf. It features a moustache painted on the bow for Movember, an annual event involving the growing of moustaches and beards during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues.

39 Martin Place

This office block is located at 39 Martin Place, with Sydney Tower in the distance and a glimpse of the MLC Centre. This 22-storey office block built in 1972 has been in the news this week because it is one of the buildings earmarked for demolition to allow underground construction of a new Sydney Metro line.

Sydney Hospital, North Wing

The North Wing of Sydney Hospital is located along Macquarie Street. This view is from the rear and includes the Robert Brough Memorial Fountain. This heritage listed building is part of a three building complex with a central administration block linked to north and south ward wings. They were designed by Thomas Rowe and John Kirkpatrick and constructed between 1884 and 1894 in the Victorian architectural style.

Macquarie Place Park, obelisk

This sandstone obelisk is located in Macquarie Place Park, on the corner of Bridge Street and Loftus Street, which was originally the first and main town square of Sydney. It was designed by the New South Wales Government Architect, Francis Greenway and erected in 1818. This location marks the place from where all public roads are measured. The inscription on this side reads: Principal Roads, Distance From Sydney to Bathurst 137 Miles, From Sydney to Windsor 35½, To Parramatta 15½, To Liverpool 20, To Macquarie Tower at the South Head 7, To the North Head of Botany Bay 14.

Martin Place, Commonwealth Trading Bank Building and General Post Office

The Commonwealth Trading Bank Building and the General Post Office are located along Martin Place. The Commonwealth Trading Bank Building, also known as the Commonwealth Bank Building, is on the corner of Pitt Street and Martin Place. It was designed by John Kirkpatrick, combining Grecian Doric and Art Deco architectural styles and built in 1916. The building was expanded with extensions designed by E.H. Henderson and F. Hill between 1929 and 1933 and an annex was constructed in 1967. In 2015, this 1960s extension was rebuilt and much of the 1916 building with 1930s extension was stripped out and refurbished. The General Post Office (GPO) building is located at 1 Martin Place, between George Street and Pitt Street. It was constructed in stages from 1864 to 1891, designed by colonial architect James Barnet in the Victorian Free Classical style. Sydney Hospital, Worrall Block

Sydney Hospital is located along Macquarie Street, opposite Martin Place. The Worrall Block is on the Sydney Hospital campus, located along Hospital Road, opposite The Domain. It was designed by John Kirkpatrick and built in 1894 in the Victorian architectural style with arts and crafts movement influences. This heritage listed building contains the Worrall Lecture Theatre and Chapel of St Luke the Physician.

Martin Place, Reserve Bank of Australia building and Australian Provincial Assurance building

The Reserve Bank of Australia building and the Australian Provincial Assurance building are located along Martin Place. The Reserve Bank of Australia building is a 22-storey building between Macquarie Street and Phillip Street built in 1964 in the Post War International architectural style. It houses the headquarters of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Australia's central bank and a money museum. The Australian Provincial Assurance building, formerly the Overseas Union Bank, is a 14-storey building between Phillip Street and Elizabeth Street built in 1936 in the art-deco architectural style. Stanmore, service station

This former service station was located on the corner of Salisbury Road and Percival Road, in the inner west suburb of Stanmore. This photo is a heritage item now since this service station was demolished in 2014 and has now been redeveloped into apartments. It was one of the last petrol stations to still offer driveway service. The palm tree is an iconic feature on the pedestrian island in Percival Road where it meets Salisbury Road.

Lewisham Hospital

This building is part of the former Lewisham Hospital, located along West Street in the inner west suburb of Lewisham. The Catholic hospital built in 1889 was first run by the Little Company of Mary, whose convent adjoined the grounds of St Thomas's Catholic Church. The hospital closed in 1988 when it was purchased by the St Vincent de Paul Society and later redeveloped the site into a low-care hostel, high-care nursing home and self-care village.

This grand entrance to St Patrick's Institute of Education is on the corner of West Street and Station Street, in the inner west suburb of Lewisham. It provides Diploma and Certificate courses in business, marketing, disability, community services work, aged care and hospitality. The Mary Potter Wing seen behind it was originally part of Lewisham Hospital.

Lewisham, Charles O'Neill House

Charles O'Neill House is part of Catholic Care, a welfare agency of the Catholic Church, located along West Street in the inner west suburb of Lewisham. This contemporary building is the State Support Office of the St Vincent de Paul Society. The site includes a low-care hostel, high-care nursing home and self-care village.

Lilli Pilli, Port Hacking estuary

This view across the Port Hacking estuary is from Lilli Pilli Point, in the southern suburb of Lilli Pilli. The tide was low enough that a sandbank was exposed in the middle of the estuary and people could easily walk out from the shore. The suburb name, Lilli Pilli, is derived from the Lilly Pilly native myrtles that grew here.

Paddington, The Greenwoodtree Hotel

The Greenwoodtree Hotel is a former hotel located along Oxford Street, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. It was built in the 1920s in the art deco architectural style. In 1971 the hotel was renamed the Paddington Green Hotel. It has since been extended and redeveloped into residential apartments and commercial space.

Botany Bay, rainbow (Theme Day: Ephemeral)

This rainbow at Botany Bay is viewed from the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands. I saw this rainbow when the sun came out after a storm but I had to be quick to photograph it since it was only around for minutes before it disappeared.
