Circular Quay, light rail stop

The Circular Quay Light Rail Stop is located along Alfred Street, beside Circular Quay railway station. It is the final destination on the CBD and South East Light Rail service. The third platform has been decorated with a rainbow walkway for Sydney WorldPride 2023 which runs from 17 February to 5 March 2023.

Darlinghurst, murals

This heritage listed building is located along Oxford Street, in the inner city suburb of Darlinghurst. It actually takes up the whole block so is also bounded by Crown Street, Foley Street and Palmer Street. The building is currently being redeveloped as part of the Oxford and Folley project, creating commercial office spaces, retail spaces for boutiques, restaurants and bars, cultural and creative spaces and newly built rooftop levels across three blocks. The area is currently hosting a number of Sydney WorldPride 2023 events and the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras on Saturday night. The hoardings of the buildings being redeveloped have been decorated with rainbow colours and murals created by Amy Blue, which tell the history of the LGBTIQA+ community in this area.

Newtown, shop

This commercial building built in the Victorian Classical architectural style is located on the corner of King Street and Erskineville Road, in the inner city suburb of Newtown.

Alexandria, Sydney Park, pond

Sydney Park is a former brickworks which has been transformed into a large recreational area in the inner city suburb of Alexandria. These stepping stones allow walkers to cross a pond in the wetlands.

Bronte, beach sign

 
The southern end of Bronte Beach, near the rock pools, in the eastern suburb of Bronte. This sign warns of dangerous currents at this end of the beach and the lifeguard's surfboard is there in case of any surf rescues. After a recent storm there is quite a bit of seaweed in the water and washed up on the sand.

This rock pool is located at southern end of Bronte Beach, beside the Bond Ocean Pool in the eastern suburb of Bronte.

This former corner shop and residence built in the Federation Style is located on the corner of Hardie Street and Hollingshed Street, in the eastern suburb of Mascot. It is now used as an office for Poseidon Freight.

This heritage listed house is located along The Avenue, in the southern su burb of Hurstville. It was designed in the Federation style and built around 1912 for Edward John Hughes. It is now home to Southside Health & Wellbeing medical centre.

Hurstville, Lorne

 'Lorne' is a heritage listed house located along The Avenue, in the southern suburb of Hurstville. It was designed in the Victorian Regency style and built in 1895 for Edward John Hughes. It is now the presbytry for the adjacent Hurstville Uniting Church.

St Peters, mural

 
"How's The Serenity?" is a mural on the side of a renovated warehouse which overlooks Simpson Park, along Lackey Sreet, in the inner west suburb of St Peters. The Art Syndicate is a new wave art collective based in the building, which specialises in street art and media. The mural was designed and hand-painted by street artist Alex Lehours in 2020. The mural features images and quotes from sci-fi movies, anime and the classic Australian movie "The Castle".

St Peters, Fences Playground

Simpson Park is located along Campbell Road, in the inner west suburb of St Peters. The St Peters Fences Playground features climbable fence structures, rubber concrete and playground equipment made from recycled materials that pays homage to the character of the suburb. It was designed and constructed by artist Mike Hewson in 2020, in consultation with students from nearby St Peters Public School.

Ramsgate Beach, groyne and baths

A view of Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Ramsgate Beach. This rock groyne is one of the sea walls along Lady Robinson Beach which have been built to protect the sandy foreshore. A marker and light sits at the end of the groyne with a sign warning people to keep off the rock wall. Ramsgate Baths is a tidal pool which was rebuilt here in 2015, consisting of plastic tubes and a mesh shark net. This part of Botany Bay has been used for public sea-water bathing since 1924 with the original Ramsgate Baths also known as Pemberton's Baths.

Wolli Creek, Cooks River, sunset

 
This sunset which is reflected in the Cooks River is viewed from Tempe Recreation Reserve, looking towards apartments in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. If you look closely, you can see a flock of birds flying towards the sun.

Chinatown, Lunar New Year, Rabbit

This artwork has been installed along the Dixon Street pedestrian mall in Chinatown, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. The Jigsaw Rabbit was created by Australian-Chinese artist Chris Yee to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Rabbit. SBS is the Special Broadcasting Service, a public service broadcaster which provides multilingual and multicultural radio and television services.

Eveleigh, sculpture

This artwork is on display at Eveleigh Works, an industrial blacksmithing workshop in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. 'Save our Ngatji' (Rainbow Serpents), creators of spiritual rivers connecting water, sky, and land (2022) was created by artist Uncle Badger Bates, blacksmith Matt Mewburn and the team at Eveleigh Works. The sculpture was displayed at The Cutaway at Barangaroo as part of the 23rd Biennale in 2022. The Rainbow Serpent is seen as the creator God, known by different Indigenous Australian names by the many different Indigenous Australian people. It is viewed as a giver of life through its association with water, but can be a destructive force if angry. When the rainbow is seen in the sky, it is said to be the Rainbow Serpent moving from one waterhole to another.

Eveleigh, pivot crane

This pivot crane is on display in Mitchell Way near the corner of Locomotive Street, in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. This was once the site of the Eveleigh Railway Yards and this pivot crane was used from about 1925 in the now demolished Wheel Shop in the manufacture of locomotive wheels. The NICTA building behind it is the National Information Communications Technology Australia, a research and development centre of excellence built in 2003.

Eveleigh, art

This inflatable artwork was installed in Innovation Plaza, part of the South Eveleigh precinct for the Sydney Festival, in the inner city suburb of Eveleigh. "The Aunties" was designed by fashion designer and artist Jenny Kee and created by the Lgop Collective with The Inflatable Event Company. Auntie Marge and Auntie Una are named for Jenny Kee's real aunties who were both highly skilled and successful seamstresses who supported and guided her in design and couture.

Haymarket, Darling Square, Canopy Edge

Looking across Darling Square to the Harbour Place and Darling Rise apartment buildings, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. Canopy Edge is a public space which provides a canopy for shade, shelter and amenity on the western edge of the square. The timber canopy is an extension of the timber ribbons which wrap around nearby The Exchange, the unique spiral-like building which looks like a hive. The lanterns have been installed to celebrate Lunar New Year and today is the Lantern Festival which celebrates the first full moon of the year.

Ramsgate Wharf

Ramsgate Wharf juts into Botany Bay from Lady Robinsons Beach, in the southern suburb of Ramsgate Beach. A fisherman prepares his fishing rod and a swimmer looks out on the bay as a jet ski passes by.

Haymarket, Capitol Square, tram stop

This tram has just departed from the Capitol Square Light Rail Stop, which is on the Central to Dulwich Hill line of the Sydney Light Rail Network, located near the corner of Hay Street and George Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. The former Haymarket Library is a three storey Victorian sandstone building in the Venetian Gothic style, designed by architect brothers George and Ralph Mansfield and constructed in 1875. The Corporation Building is a two storey red brick building in the Federation Anglo-Dutch style, designed by George McRae and constructed in 1895.

Chinatown, gate (Theme Day: Virtue)

 

This gateway is located at the northern end of the Dixon Street pedestrian mall in Chinatown in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This traditional style of Chinese architectural arch or gateway structure is known as a paifang or pailou. The arch features the words "Understand Virtue and Trust".
