Haymarket, Corporation Building

The Corporation Building is located on the corner of Hay Street and Parker Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. It was designed by George McRae and built in 1895 in the Federation Anglo-Dutch architectural style. It was originally used for administration for the nearby markets. It was renovated in 2000 and now houses a community centre, a restaurant and shops.

      Me too. There was something more monumental, spacious and light-filled about buildings that were not hemmed in by neighbours.

    Great shot of Haymarket in your world ~ Boston had a Haymarket that used resemble this one!

      Yes, this was actually with my compact camera which does have a wide angle lens.

    The corner tower looks as if it has been transported from some other building style. Nevertheless, it suits a corner position and is impressive.
