Circular Quay, Vivid Sydney

"Written in the Stars" was a drone show exploring our solar system, above Circular Quay during the Vivid Sydney Festival. It was viewed here from the Overseas Passenger Terminal looking above the Sydney Opera House. The show was created by Gill Minervini in collaboration with Australian Traffic Network and was the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere to date.

The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour Hotel illuminated during the Vivid Sydney Festival from 26 May to 17 June 2023.

Darling Harbour, fountain, Vivid Festival

"River Mouth" is an art installation which was located in front of a fountain at the Chinese Garden of Friendship Forecourt in Darling Harbour for the Vivid Sydney Festival. This set of hand-blown neon glass lines in two formations was created by Emma-Kate Hart. It is a topographic map of where Parramatta River meets Sydney Harbour but it is also two human profiles - one facing the sky, one the earth.

Ultimo, The Goods Line Walk, Vivid Sydney

"Kinetic Perspective" is an art installation which was located along The Goods Line Walk in the inner city suburb of Ultimo for the Vivid Sydney Festival. The 32 illuminated spinning circles which move in sync with one other, were created by Spanish architect and lighting designer Juan Fuentes.

Barangaroo House, Vivid Sydney

The balconies of Barangaroo House were illuminated with light projections for the Vivid Sydney Festival. 'House of Naturalia' is an animation created by Visual Monkey featuring a luscious flowering garden leading to a colourful underwater world.

Barangaroo Reserve, Vivid Sydney

 

"Night Whisper" is an art installation which was located in Barangaroo Reserve for the Vivid Sydney Festival. The art work, created by Amigo & Amigo, features an oversized lightbulb with endangered Bogong Moths fluttering inside. The illuminated Sydney Harbour Bridge can be seen the distance.

Barangaroo, International Towers, Vivid Sydney

The International Towers at Barangaroo were illuminated in pink and blue for the Vivid Sydney Festival.

Darling Harbour, Vivid Sydney

 A view of Darling Harbour which features the Darling Harbour Marina, International Convention Centre Sydney, the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour Hotel illuminated for the Vivid Sydney Festival, which ran from 26 May to 17 June 2023. The sphere in Cockle Bay was part of "Elemental", a show that featured water shooters, flames, projection and pyro technics.

Overseas Passenger Terminal, Vivid Sydney

"Contours" is art installation which was located at the entrance to the Overseas Passenger Terminal, along Circular Quay West at The Rocks, for the Vivid Sydney Festival. It was created by Mark Hammer and was inspired by the vast arid landscape in the outback with the land's contoured reds, oranges and yellows recreated in LED and neon flexes.

Hickson Road Reserve, Vivid Sydney

"Dandelion" is an art installation which was located in Hickson Road Reserve at The Rocks for the Vivid Sydney Festival. The illuminated steel structure was created by Otis Studio and recreates a dandelion's wispy calyx, also known as a pappus.

Central Station Park, Vivid Sydney

"Fluxit" is an art installation which was located in Central Station Park along Railway Colonnade Drive for the Vivid Sydney Festival. The electronic bonfire was created by Dutch artists Vendel and De Wolf and is made up of 400 silver LED tubes which glow with orange embers at random, as though fire runs through bamboo sticks.

Sydney Terminal Building, Central Railway Station, Vivid Sydney

The west façade of the Sydney Terminal Building and clock tower at Central railway station were illuminated with light projections for the Vivid Sydney Festival. 'Eco' is an animation created by The Electric Canvas and tells a history of this site from The Dreaming to development and an imagined future.

First Fleet Park, Vivid Sydney

"Supernova" was an art installation created by Studio Vertigo and located in First Fleet Park at The Rocks, near Circular Quay, during the Vivid Sydney Festival. A supernova is a star explosion and this installation explodes with light and smoke.

Sydney Opera House, Vivid Sydney, Lighting of the Sails

The Sydney Opera House is illuminated for the annual Vivid Sydney Festival, which runs from 26 May to 17 June 2022. This year's "Lighting of the Sails" features artwork by the late Australian artist John Olsen animated by creative technologists Curiious.

The Rocks, Australian Steamship Navigation Company building, Vivid Sydney

 The clock tower of the Australian Steamship Navigation Company building (ASNC) at The Rocks has been illuminated with light projections for the Vivid Sydney Festival, which is running from 26 May to 17 June 2023. "Biotechture" was created by Hotara Visual Guerilla.
