Hunters Hill, Masonic Temple

This Masonic Temple is located along Alexandria Street, in the lower north shore suburb of Hunters Hill. The hall is also used as a community centre these days.

Fig Tree Bridge

Fig Tree Bridge carries Burns Bay Road over the Lane Cove River and connects Hunters Hill with Linley Point. This girder bridge opened in in September 1963, replacing an iron truss bridge originally built on this site in 1885. The Seven Bridges Walk will be held tomorrow to raise money for Cancer Council NSW. The course is a 27 kilometre closed loop circuit that travels clockwise around Sydney Harbour, providing many magnificent views around the harbour. The seven bridges are Sydney Harbour Bridge, Pyrmont Bridge, Anzac Bridge, Iron Cove Bridge, Gladesville Bridge, Tarban Creek Bridge and Fig Tree Bridge.

Tarban Creek Bridge

The Tarban Creek Bridge carries Burns Bay Road over Tarban Creek, between the suburbs of Hunters Hill and Huntleys Point. Tarban Creek Bridge is a concrete arch bridge which opened in 1965. It formed a missing link between the Gladesville Bridge and Fig Tree Bridge. It was originally planned to form part of a north-western expressway, which was never built.

Hunters Hill, St Peters Chanel Catholic Church

St Peters Chanel Catholic Church is located along Futuna Street, in the north west suburb of Hunters Hill. This sandstone Gothic style church was built in 1892 is listed on the Register of the National Estate. St. Peter Chanel was a French missionary to the island of Futuna, east of New Caledonia, between Samoa and Fiji. He became the first Marist martyr after the chief ordered his death in 1841 for giving advice which contradicted island culture. His body was brought back to Hunters Hill in Australia but eventually was returned to France for burial. He was canonised in 1954 and then in 1977, his body was taken back to Futuna and permanently buried there.

Hunters Hill, All Saints Anglican Church

All Saints Anglican Church is located on the corner of Ambrose Street and Ferry Street, in the north western suburb of Hunters Hill. This church was designed by John Horbury Hunt in the Gothic Revival style and opened in 1888. This church, now on the Register of National Estate, was unfinished due to the financial situation of the parish. The wooden western end was not replaced until 1938 but the bell tower, spire and porch in the original plans were not buillt.

Hunters Hill, post office

The post office in the northern suburb of Hunters Hill is a heritage building that has been listed on the Register of the National Estate. Located in Alexandra Street, it was built in the 1890s by the government architect Walter Liberty Vernon, in the Queen Anne style.
