Martin Place, advertisement

This promotion in the middle of Martin Place was created by Canadian fashion retailer "Kit and Ace" which has just opened a new flagship store in the former Commonwealth Bank building on the corner of Pitt Street. It features a number of rotary hoist clotheslines on a blue carpet, with all white clothing from the Kit and Ace range hanging. The reflections are in the puddle which was created in the Martin Place Amphitheatre after a brief rain shower.

Earlwood, Cooks River, sunset

This sunset reflected in the Cooks River, between the inner west suburb of Marrickville and the south western suburb of Earlwood. This view is from Undercliffe Bridge which carries Illawarra Road over the river.

Surry Hills, warehouse

This former warehouse is located along Foster Street, in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. This heritage listed building was used by Edwards and Co, a prominent 19th century Australian tea merchant. It has now been converted into a residential apartment building.

Brighton-Le-Sands, First Fleet Bicentennial Monument

The First Fleet Bicentennial Monument stands in Cook Park, on the foreshore of Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands. It was sculpted in bronze by Victor Cusack in 1988 to commemorate the arrival of the First Fleet in Botany Bay in 1788 and the first Europeans settlers in Australia. The names of all those new arrivals are engraved on this monument flanked by a couple of old cannons. There were originally four cannons located here in 1900 from the navy vessel HMS Wolverine, built in 1863 and flagship of the Australian Squadron 1876-1881. One of those cannons now stands outside the Rockdale City Council administration building and another cannon is south along the bay at Sans Souci

Hyde Park, war memorial

This war memorial is on the western side of Hyde Park South near Elizabeth Street "Yininmadyemi - Thou didst let fall" is an artwork by Aboriginal artist Tony Albert to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who served in Australia's military. The 2015 artwork is composed of four standing bullets and three fallen shells. The bullet is a universal signifier for conflict. The arrangement of the bullets, with some standing and some fallen, represents those who survived and those who were sacrificed.

Anzac War Memorial

The western side of the Anzac War Memorial, which stands in Hyde Park South. The building was designed by Bruce Dellit in the Art Deco architectural style and completed in 1934. The sculptures and bas reliefs that adorn the building were created by Rayner Hoff, who also created the powerful "Sacrifice" sculpture inside. It was built as a memorial to the Australian Imperial Force of World War I and is the focus of commemoration ceremonies  Anzac Day, 25th April, which marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the war.

This former warehouse is located in the inner west suburb of Glebe. It now houses the offices of the Australian Market & Social Research Society, a not-for-profit body of market and social research professionals who are dedicated to increasing the standard and understanding of market and social research in Australia.

Ultimo, University of Technology Sydney, Dr Chau Chak Wing Building

The Dr Chau Chak Wing Building is a Business School building on the campus of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), along Ultimo Road in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. The 12-storey tower is the first building in Australia designed by Canadian American architect Frank Gehry and built in 2014.

Balmain, London Hotel

The London Hotel is located on the corner of Darling Street and Jane Street, in the inner west suburb of Balmain. This stone building was built in 1859 and converted into a hotel in 1869. It has previously been known as Golden Eagle Hotel, Circular Saw Hotel and London Tavern.

Balmain, Oddfellows Hall

The former Oddfellows Hall and shop is located on the corner of Darling Street and Jane Street, in the inner west suburb of Balmain. It was built in 1864 for the the Loyal Balmain Lodge of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a friendly society who owned and used the building from its construction until 1975. It now houses a hairdresser.

Rozelle, Easton Park, mural

This is part of the mural on the amenities building in Easton Park, along Lilyfield Road in the inner west suburb of Rozelle. It was created by Sheo White in 2010 for the Wall to Wall Competition, which seeks to minimise graffiti in the local area whilst offering artists an opportunity to showcase their skills, style and creativity. The mural features various sports and leisure activities that can be experienced in the park. Another part of the mural can be seen here.

Wolli Creek, St Magdalen's Chapel

St Magdalen's Chapel is located in the southern suburb of Wolli Creek. The Sisters of the Good Samaritan bought the Greenbank estate in 1884 and built a charitable refuge for women in 1887 known as The Retreat. The chapel was designed by Sheerin & Hennessy in the Victorian neo-Gothic architectural style and built in 1888. In recent years it has been deconsecrated and restored as part of a redevelopment of the site to high density residential.

Rozelle, shops

These shops are located on the corner of Darling Street and Belmore Street, in the inner west suburb of Rozelle. The building was built in 1897 and is one of the few remaining shopfronts with a veranda and awning above the footpath.

This water pumping station is located on the edge of Easton Park along the Lilyfield Road, in the inner west suburb of Rozelle. This heritage listed building was built in 1904 in the Federation Queen Anne architectural style.

Balmain East, Waterview Wharf Workshops

The Waterview Wharf Workshops are located on the shore of Mort Bay Nicholson Street, in the inner west suburb of Balmain East. The workshops were built in 1900 in the Edwardian architectural style by the Adelaide Steamship Company for ship maintenance and a repair base for their fleet. They were sold in 1964 and from 1979 to 1986 the buildings were inhabited by artists. They were then restored and converted into studio spaces for creative professional businesses and the site is now heritage listed by the National Trust.

AWA Tower

The AWA Tower is a heritage listed office and communications building along York Street, opposite Wynyard Park. This 15 storey building with a large white radio tower on top, in the shape of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, was the tallest building in Australia until 1958. It was designed by architects Morrow and Gordon and built in 1939 in the art deco architectural style. AWA Tower was the headquarters for Amalgamated Wireless Australasia Limited a broadcaster and manufacturer of radios, record players and other electrical equipment. The building on the left is the Philippine Airlines Building built in 1964.

Circular Quay

The Rocks, The Big Dig

The Big Dig is an archaeological site between Cumberland Street and Gloucester Streets, in The Rocks. It contains remains of over 30 homes and shops and 750,000 artefacts from the late 18th century, the time of Australia's first European settlement. Excavations began in 1994 with a team of 20 archaeologists and 400 volunteers. The Sydney Harbour YHA hostel and The Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre were built above the site in 2010. The wire horse sculpture made by Glenn Doyle was installed in 2015 on the remnant paving stones of the stables behind the Whalers Arms Hotel.

The Galeries, mural

This stained glass mural is located above one of the Pitt Street entrances at "The Galeries" shopping centre, below the Citigroup Centre office block. It was created in 2000 by Marc Grunsiet, inspired by the lyrical calls of the Magpie, heralding the Australian dawn. The colours of the rising Sun progress from seashore to desert, presided over by the spirit of the songster. It is a companion piece to the larger installation, being at once a map of the land and its spirits.
