Newtown, shops and flats

This is part of the facade of a commercial and residential building on the corner of King Street and Wilson Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The heritage listed building built in the Victorian style, once housed a branch of RH Gordon & Co, a retailer of home furnishings. The ground floor has a number of shops and restaurants with flats on the first and second floors.

Bexley, fire station


 The former Bexley Fire Station, located on the corner of Forest Road and Queen Victoria Street, in the southern suburb of Bexley. The heritage listed building was built in the Federation Arts and Crafts style but later redeveloped for residential use with additional town houses at the side and rear.

Newtown, shops


The Emily Buildings are located on the corner of King Street and Queen Street, in the inner city suburb of Newtown. The row of shops with flats above were built around 1888 in the Victorian style. This photo was taken in 2015 so even though the shop tenants have changed since then, the heritage features remain.

Chippendale, flats and shops

The "Strickland Building" contains residential flats, a gallery and retail shops along Cleveland Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. It was designed by R. M. Broderick and built in the early 1900s in the Federation Arts and Crafts architectural style.

Paddington, Montrose Flats

"Montrose Flats" is located on the corner of Stewart Street and Gordon Street, in the inner city eastern suburb of Paddington. This heritage listed mansion was built in 1869 in the Victorian Regency architectural style. This house went from being a private mansion, to rental premises, a private hospital, flats and now having a commercial/residential use.

North Bondi, beach

The beach at North Bondi, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, photographed in 2007. Located north of Bondi Beach, this view is towards Biddigal Reserve, Wally Weekes Pool and flats overlooking the beach at the point known as Ben Buckler.

These buildings are located along Lindfield Avenue, opposite the railway station in the northern suburb of Lindfield. Like many suburban shopping centres in Sydney, they contain shops on the ground floor and residential flats above.
