Kings Cross, El Alamein Fountain

The El Alamein Memorial Fountain is a heritage-listed fountain and war memorial located at Fitzroy Gardens, along Macleay Street in the inner city locality of Kings Cross. It was designed by Australian architect Robert Woodward and installed in 1961. It was commissioned as a memorial to soldiers who died in the Battle of El Alamein, Egypt in 1942 during World War II.

Darlinghurst, Green Park Hotel

Green Park Hotel is located along Victoria Street, in the inner city suburb of Darlinghurst. This heritage listed pub was built in 1893 in the Federation style, with influences of Free Classical and Arts and Crafts styles.

This mural is at the entrance of the beer garden at the Public House Petersham, a pub located along Stanmore Road, in the inner west suburb of Petersham. It was previously known as the Newington Inn Hotel.

Naremburn, St Leonards Catholic Church

St Leonards Catholic Church is located on the corner of Willoughby Road and Donnelly Road, in the northern suburb of Naremburn. This heritage listed church was designed by J.T. McCarthy and built in 1913 in the Neo-Gothic style. The spire and extension was designed by Allan G. Robertson and built in 1955. The adjacent suburb of St Leonards, took its name from this church.

O'Connell Street

Looking up O'Connell Street from the intersection with Hunter Street. The heritage listed buildings along the street lead to two contemporary skyscrapers at the end of the street, Governor Phillip Tower and 1 Bligh.

Bondi, post office

This post office is located on the corner of Bondi Road and Ocean Street, in the eastern suburb of Bondi. The heritage listed building was built in 1915 in the Federation style with Arts and Crafts and Queen Anne influences. The butcher shop next door features a hand painted sign on the side wall advertising some interesting cuts of game meat from Venison, Buffalo and Wild Boar to the native Kangaroo, Emu and Crocodile.

Barangaroo Reserve, path

Following the path around Barangaroo Reserve, in the inner city suburb of Barangaroo. This was once the site of a concrete industrial container terminal which has been transformed into a foreshore park, with sandstone blocks used to build a naturalistic headland and terraces, landscaped with native trees and shrubs. The sandstone used at Barangaroo Reserve was extracted from beneath, in what is now The Cutaway, the reserve's large cultural space. The Sydney skyline can be seen in the distance.

Sydney Harbour Bridge, Barangaroo Reserve

A view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the reconstructed foreshore along Barangaroo Reserve, in the inner city suburb of Barangaroo. The wharves at Walsh Bay and the Operational Headquarters of the Sydney Ports Corporation at Moore's Wharf are on the right and the Southern Swan tall ship passes under the bridge.

Paddington, St Matthias Anglican Church

St Matthias Anglican Church, is located long Oxford Street, in the eastern suburb of Paddington. This heritage listed building was designed by Edward Bell and built in 1861 in the Victorian Academic Gothic style. This is the western entrance from Church Place, off Ulster Street.

Darling Harbour, Starship Aqua

Starship Aqua, seen here moored at King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour, is a large cruising glass vessel with three metre high surround glass windows which provide unrestricted views. It has a sister ship called Starship Sydney.

ANZ Centre

The ANZ Bank Centre is a 46 storey commercial office building designed by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp and completed in 2013. Much of the office space is used by ANZ Bank and it has a pedestrian plaza linking Castlereagh Street with Pitt Street which features a few restaurants and cafes. This view is from Park Street beside Hyde Park.

Smithfield, gallery

The Hallway Gallery is an art gallery located on The Horsley Drive, in the western suburb of Smithfield. It was built in 1995 and was designed and positioned to compliment the style of the old council building alongside, which is now the Fairfield City Museum. It was built in 1913 as the first council chambers of the Municipality of Smithfield and Fairfield, which was incorporated in 1888.

Summer Hill, street art

This electricity substation is on the corner of Smith Street and Flour Mill Way, in the inner west suburb of Summer Hill. The mural was painted by street artist Scott Marsh in 2016 and depicts the silos of the former flour mill nearby and the urban renewal of the former industrial site.

Watsons Bay, St Peter's Anglican Church

St Peter's Anglican Church is located along Old South Head Road, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. This heritage listed sandstone church was designed by Edmund Blacket in the Gothic Revival architectural style and built in 1864. An organ vestry was added to the south side of the church in 1902.

Darling Harbour, paddlewheel steamboat

This paddlewheel steamboat is moored at King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour. Sydney Showboats was purpose-built in 1987 with a theatre-style layout to host luxury dinner cruises and cabaret shows on Sydney Harbour.

Cahill Expressway, skyscrapers

Looking across the Cahill Expressway to skyscrapers located in the northern western part of the central business district. They are Grosvenor Place, a 45 storey office building, Cove Apartments, a 45 storey residential building, The Stamford Residences a 30-storey residential building, with Suncorp Place, a 42-storey office building behind it.

Bradfield Highway, Cahill Expressway

Looking across the Bradfield Highway and Cahill Expressway from Observatory Hill and the Sydney Harbour Bridge towards the central business district. The toll booths were removed from this location last year, replaced by electronic tolling equipment. The signs direct traffic to the various off-ramps into the city and out to the suburbs. A historic sign advertising Bushell's Tea Bags, an Australian brand of tea, on the side of a building has been restored and repainted.

This former corner shop is located on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Windsor Street, in the inner eastern suburb of Paddington. It became home to a private art gallery in 1979, dealing in 19th and 20th Century Traditional and Modern Art.

This is part of a mural on the side wall of a backpackers hostel on the corner of Chalmers Street and Cleveland Street, in the inner city suburb of Redfern. It features Australian blue tongue lizards and a Sulphur-crested cockatoo.

The former Hurstville Baptist Church is located on the corner of Dora Street and Queens Road in the southern suburb of Hurstville. It was built in 1934 in the Inter War architectural style and is now used a youth centre.

Colonial State Bank

The Colonial State Bank building is located along Martin Place between Elizabeth Street and Phillip Street. This 36-storey tower was designed by Peddle Thorp Architects and built in 1986 in the post modern architectural style as the headquarters of the NSW State Bank. It was taken over by Colonial in 1996 to form the Colonial State Bank, until it was taken over in 2000 by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. This view is from Hunter Street towards Elizabeth Street and has been made possible from this angle following the demolition of a number of buildings along Hunter Street for a new development.

Paddington, scouts hall

This scouts hall is located at the corner of the Windsor Street and Elizabeth Street, in the inner eastern suburb of Paddington. It was built in 1926 and is still home to the 1st Woollahra/Paddington Scout Group and now also the offices of architects and interior designers in the shopfront.

Paddington, communal garden

This small communal garden is located at the middle of Windsor Street, near the corner of Elizabeth Street, in the inner eastern suburb of Paddington. It was created in 2011 when this part of Windsor Street became a cul-de-sac, to block traffic from reaching the intersection with Elizabeth Street. The community street library allows people to borrow books for free, which can either be returned or exchanged for another book.

Paddington, promotions

A fun display of giant balloons has been installed outside this business along Elizabeth Street, in the inner eastern suburb of Paddington. A couple had just been visiting the talent agency inside, Ministry of Talent, picked up a coffee at the cafe nearby, then just taken selfies in front of the balloons so were looking at them on their mobile phone as they walked past. The balloons look like they're spilling out of the first storey window and falling to the ground.
