Campbells Cove, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Vivid Sydney

The Sydney Harbour Bridge illuminated for the Vivid Sydney Festival which ran from 22 May to 13 June 2026. This view across Campbells Cove was from the Overseas Passenger Terminal at The Rocks. Various light installations were also installed along the shore of Sydney Harbour such as "Dear You", a message in a bottle which reads "Welcome to Sydney, where your story begins". "Beyond the Overlay" are mesmerising projections inspired by the bright, bold designs of the Bauhaus movement.

Pyrmont, Darling Island Wharf

This life preserver ring is located along Sydney Harbour Foreshore Walk at Darling Island Wharf, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. The tall buildings in the distance are in North Sydney and the parkland is Barangaroo Reserve in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. A River Fleet ferry and a First Fleet ferry make their way across Sydney Harbour heading into Darling Harbour.

Watsons Bay, wharf

This wharf sits at the end of Victoria Wharf Reserve along Pacific Street, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. It provides some spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline.

Harbour Bridge, ferry


This Parramatta River Class ferry has just departed from the Circular Quay ferry wharves and is making its way past the Overseas Passenger Terminal and heading towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The ferry began operating in 2024 and was named after Isobel Bennett, who was one of Australia's best-known marine biologists.

Circular Quay, ship and ferry


A view of a cruise ship berthed at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, looking towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge from a Circular Quay ferry wharf. "Celebrity Edge" is an Edge-class cruise ship operated by Celebrity Cruises. The "Annabelle Rankin" is a 40m Twin-Deck Rocket Ferry operated by Captain Cook Cruises on Sydney Harbour. It was named Annabelle Rankin after the Australian politician and diplomat. She was the first woman from Queensland elected to parliament, the first woman federal departmental minister, and the first Australian woman to be appointed head of a foreign mission.

Circular Quay, Overseas Passenger Terminal

Cahill Expressway, Sydney Harbour (Theme Day: Photo of the Year)

Looking across the Cahill Expressway above Circular Quay Railway Station to Sydney Harbour. A cruise ship is moored at the Overseas Passenger Terminal and another is almost passing under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. A number of ferries are arriving and departing from the Circular Quay Ferry Wharves. This view is from the balcony at Cafe Sydney, which is a rooftop restaurant in Customs House at Circular Quay. I featured a similar photo during the year which was taken seconds earlier and can be seen here.

Sydney Harbour Bridge, ferries


These Sydney Ferries make their way past the Sydney Harbour Bridge departing and arriving at Circular Quay.The Fishburn is a First Fleet ferry acquired in 1985 and operates on the Inner Harbour. It was named Fishburn, after one of eleven ships of the First Fleet that sailed to Australia in 1787.

Opera House, ferry

A ferry passes the Sydney Opera House, viewed from a boat in Sydney Harbour. The Queenscliff is a Freshwater Class ferry acquired in 1983 and is part of the fleet that operates from Circular Quay to Manly. It was named Queenscliff after the northern suburb near Manly.

Circular Quay, ferries

 
This view of ferries moored at Circular Quay ferry wharves is from Circular Quay railway station. In the distance, across Sydney Harbour are the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. These Sydney Ferries are moored here overnight after ferry services have concluded. The Alexander is a First Fleet Class ferry acquired in 1986 that is part of the fleet that operates on the Inner Harbour routes. It was named Alexander, after one of eleven ships of the First Fleet which sailed to Australia in 1787. The Bungaree is an Emerald class ferry which entered service on Sydney Harbour in 2017. It is named for an Aboriginal Australian from the Broken Bay area, who was known as an explorer, entertainer and community leader. They feature a moustache on the bow for Movember, an annual event involving the growing of moustaches and beards during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues.

The Jeffrey Street wharf, near the Sydney Harbour Bridge, is located in the north shore suburb of Kirribilli. This is a photo from 2015 so the Sydney skyline across the harbour has changed considerably since then.

Walsh Bay, wharves


A view of the Walsh Bay wharves from a boat on Sydney Harbour. These wharves stretch from Pier One in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge at Dawes Point to Moore's Wharf at Millers Point. They have been redeveloped into a hotel, theatres, apartments, restaurants and office space.

Dawes Point, wharves


A view of the Walsh Bay wharves, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point, in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from a boat on Sydney Harbour. The Coral Trekker is a square-rigged, wooden tall ship with distinctive rusty red sails, which is involved in maritime training and does daily sails and charters on Sydney Harbour.

Dawes Point, wharves

 
A view of the Walsh Bay wharves, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point, in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from a boat on Sydney Harbour. This Sydney Rivercat Class ferry is part of the fleet that cruises up the Parramatta River. It was acquired in 1993 and named after Marjorie Jackson, an Australian Olympic athlete. A train can also be seen crossing the bridge.

Shark Island Light is an active pile lighthouse, located just north of Shark Island, an island in Sydney Harbour. A boat full of fishermen has moored near a marker here.

Rose Bay

Looking towards the eastern suburb of Rose Bay, from a boat on Sydney Harbour. The school at the top is Kincoppol-Rose Bay, a Catholic school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. The houses have views of the harbour and the rocks along the shore are popular with swimmers.
