Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club

 
Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club is located at South Cronulla Beach, in the southern suburb of Cronulla. The original art deco building was designed by A.B. Polin in a European Functionalist style and built in 1940 at the southern end of Cronulla Park.

Coogee, hotel

 
'Grand Pacific on the Beach' is a hotel located on the corner of Beach Street and Carr Street, in the eastern suburb of Coogee, directly across from Coogee Beach. It was built in 1909 in the Edwardian style and was originally known as the Beach House.

Cronulla, Oak Park Pavilion


Oak Park Pavilion is located in the southern suburb of Cronulla. It was built in 1939 by W.F. Foster and Co. in the art deco style. The building is located along The Esplanade, on the edge of Oak Park, overlooking a small beach and rock pool. This beach pavilion has change rooms, showers and public toilets. I took a photo of this fourteen years ago and the difference can be seen here.

Cronulla, mural

This mural of a fish is on the wall of a car park along Croydon Street in the southern suburb of Cronulla. It was created in 2019 by notable graffiti artist Phibs. It is part of the Walk the Walls Street Art Festival, where established and emerging street artists were recruited to paint murals, as part of a large crime prevention program to stop graffiti and vandalism.

Kingsford, light rail and bus stop


Juniors Kingsford is a combined bus stop and light rail stop located along Anzac Parade in the eastern suburb of Kingsford. It is part of the CBD and South East Light Rail Service, made up of the L2 Randwick Light Rail line and L3 Kingsford Light Rail line which run from Circular Quay. The stop is located near the South Sydney Juniors Leagues Club, a venue which contains a fitness centre, function and entertainment spaces, bars and eateries.

Kogarah, skyline


A view of the skyline in the southern suburb of Kogarah from the rooftop of a highrise apartment building along Montgomery Street. There is a concentration of apartment and office buildings in this suburb. Notable landmarks seen here are the new wing of St George Hospital, Resurrection of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, Kogarah Library and Kogarah Town Square.

Glebe, Bellevue Cottage


'Bellevue Cottage' is located at the end of Leichhardt Street, overlooking Blackwattle Bay, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. This heritage-listed waterfront building was built in 1896 in the Victorian Italianate style, originally as a residence. This is a heritage photo from 2012 when it was used as a cafe but it is now a French restaurant which I posted here.

Waterloo, metro station, art

This lenticular wall is at the entrance to Waterloo metro station, an underground station in the inner city suburb of Waterloo. It is part of an extensive artwork called "Footprints on Gadigal Nura" which was created in 2024 by indigenous artist Nicole Monks which can be seen here. The wall embodies the title of the artwork, when viewed from either direction. The view from the other direction was shown here last week.

Tamarama, bus shelter


This bus shelter is located along Tamarama Marine Drive, in the eastern suburb of Tamarama. This bus stop is behind Tamarama Park at Tamarama Beach and replaced a historic bus shelter here. The image on the glass at the back is the historic Wonderland City, a major open-air amusement park which was located here between 1906 and 1911.

Allawah, church


This former church is part of the St George Christian School campus, located along Woids Avenue in the southern suburb of Allawah. It was built in 1901 in the Federation style as the Bellevue Congregational Church and was later known as the Allawah Uniting Church. It was decommissioned in 1995 and acquired by the St George Christian School, a non-denominational private school. It was restored in 2021 and became the Chapel Gallery.

Barangaroo, Darling Island Wharf


Looking across Darling Harbour, past a life preserver located on Darling Island Wharf, in the inner west suburb of Pyrmont. The tall buildings are Crown Sydney, One Sydney Harbour, International Towers, No.1 Shelley Street and Westpac Place. A First Fleet ferry heads towards Sydney Harbour as another departs Barangaroo ferry wharves.

Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club

The Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club sits on the cliff above Tamarama Beach, in the eastern suburb of Tamarama. The club was one of the first surf life saving clubs established in Australia in 1906. This club house was built in 1939 to replace the original wooden building which was destroyed by fire. The large sign at the front has been painted on the steps of a fitness station. The large sign has been painted on the steps which are part of a fitness station, an outdoor workout space. A couple walk past with their children in a pram and a baby carrier.

Pyrmont, Darling Island Wharf

Darling Island Apartments and Ballaarat Park are on Darling Island Wharf at Pyrmont Bay, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. The warehouse buildings on the wharves were were once part of Sydney's port facilities and have been redeveloped into apartments, office space and restaurants.
