Haymarket, truck (Theme Day: Fruit)


This vintage truck is on permanent display at Paddy's Market in Haymarket. Signorelli Bros Fruit Shop were originally located in Willoughby and Lakemba but now have a nearby stall in the market. The truck is loaded with a variety of Australian native flowers.

Haymarket, Market City (Theme Day: Flea Market)

 

This ornamental clock is part of the Market City complex, located along Ultimo Road, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This complex contains a produce and flea market known as Paddy's Markets on the ground floor, the Market City shopping centre on three levels above, and a skyscraper apartment building called The Peak. The Vegetable Market building was built in 1909 in the Edwardian style with the façade preserved and restored in the 1980 redevelopment.

Haymarket, Market City

Market City is located along Hay Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This complex contains a produce and flea market known as Paddy's Markets on the ground floor, the Market City shopping centre on three levels above, and a skyscraper apartment building called The Peak. The Vegetable Market building was built in 1909 in the Edwardian style with the façade preserved and restored in the 1980 redevelopment. A tram has stopped at the Paddy's Markets Light Rail Stop, which is on the Central to Dulwich Hill line of the Sydney Light Rail Network.

Market City is located along Hay Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. The Rocks, neon sign

This neon sign is located at the end of Atherden Street, off Playfair Street, at The Rocks. It features famous landmarks from this area such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australian Steamship Navigation Company building and The Rocks Markets stalls.

Haymarket, Paddy's Markets

This hand painted sign is on a wall at Paddy's Markets, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. Paddy's Markets have operated in Haymarket since 1834 and this is part of a series of murals designed by a local artist David Doyle to mimic some of the past advertising signs. Haymarket, hotel

The entrance to "The Ultimo", a boutique hotel along Ultimo Road, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This heritage listed building was designed by George McRae and built in 1910 in the Federation Free architectural style. It was a purpose built market stores building opposite Paddy's Market, originally the vegetable market.

Pyrmont, Sydney Fish Market

Sydney Fish Market is located on the shore of Blackwattle Bay, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. Sydney Fish Market is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the third largest seafood market in terms of variety in the world. The fish markets were originally part of the Haymarket fish market but moved to this site in 1966.

Sydney's produce markets were originally located here until 1980 when they moved to the western suburb of Flemington. The Vegetable Market building was built in 1909 in the Edwardian architectural style and the façade was preserved and restored for this redevelopment.

The Rocks Markets (Theme Day: Open Air Markets)

The Rocks Markets are held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This view is down Argyle Street to Circular Quay. A Farmers' Market is held in this section on a Friday with food stalls and freshly prepared takeaway food. On Saturday and Sunday the markets also extend into Playfair Street and George Street. The weekend market features everything from food to art, fashion, jewellery, cosmetics and homewares.
