The Rocks Markets are held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This view is down Argyle Street to Circular Quay. A Farmers' Market is held in this section on a Friday with food stalls and freshly prepared takeaway food. On Saturday and Sunday the markets also extend into Playfair Street and George Street. The weekend market features everything from food to art, fashion, jewellery, cosmetics and homewares.
I love the Rocks Markets! Thanks for this photo so many many memories.
ReplyDeletelooks like my type of place to do some shopping!

Getting chic you Aussies.
ReplyDeleteI remember just 'Peters Pies'.
beau marché, j'aime bien ces march"s dans les villes, cela change
ReplyDeleteOh, what a lovely sunny day. I do like a good market.
ReplyDeleteOur market is only on Sunday mornings, in Waterloo and rather small, but in Brussels there is a very big one with over 400 stalls ! The second biggest one in Europe after Ventimiglia in Italy.
ReplyDeleteVery, very awesome!
ReplyDeleteMarkets are so very difficult to photograph from ground level. Oh to have a bridge or mezanine to get some perspective. I like especially the poof of colour from the barrier, Jim. I love this part of the city and the markets are a delight - even though oriented to tourists!!
ReplyDeleteJulie, it certainly was a challenge getting this shot without shooting into the sun or copping too many shadows.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a peaceful place, great to meet friends. Please have a good Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteOh I haven't been to the Rocks Markets for a very long time! Used to love going there when we took family holidays to Sydney. I'm heading back there in November, so can't wait to revisit :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog is a great concept. I enjoyed your pictures very much. It looks like a wonderful place to be.
ReplyDeleteBit of a different view of that market - at least to any that I have. Took me a little while to realise where you took it from.
ReplyDeleteJim,
ReplyDeleteI know hardly anything about the "land down under" but looking at your blog and great photos I think I could learn a great deal! Thanks for the tour of the Rocks Market!

Oh my goodness, that market is calling me.

Fun to see the similarities in markets down under and ours here in the Pacific Northwest. Love the little red school bus ... is that a play thing for children?
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful area of Sydney - what part isn't! And lovely to see the market. I didn't remember there was a market here but obviously I wasn't there on market day! Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteLovely - I love farmers market. Must be nice to go to one at the Rocks - I love the place with lots of old buildings.
ReplyDeleteChuck Pefley, that's a red barricade to stop vehicles entering that part of the street on market day.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like great market. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very civilised market. Great picture.
ReplyDeleteI know this market. I remember the Rocks market as a lively place. It was wonderful to go through it and to watch the people. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteThis is the kind of open air market I like more...
ReplyDeleteWow, so many things to see and do in Sydney alone! When you add it to attractions throughout the country, OZ just has everything!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice market. I like the fresh produce of the markets.
ReplyDeleteCool shot!
ReplyDeleteThis is an iconic Sydney market location ... glad you captured it. I don't think I would have known quite where to start to get it to work.
ReplyDeleteI like the mix of stalls and the table where you can sit and enjoy the market tendency ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. The Rocks is one of my favourite places in the city.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
