Watsons Bay, bridge

This footbridge is located along a walkway at the northernmost point of the South Head peninsula, in eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. It provides views across Sydney Harbour to the North Head peninsula, in the northern suburb of Manly.

Watsons Bay, gun emplacement

This former gun emplacement is located at South Head, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. Fortifications at South Head were completed in 1854 but weren't armed with guns until 1872. South Head Fort or Hornby Battery was the Examination Battery for Port Jackson during World War 1 and World War 2. This view is from the southern gun pit, towards North Head and out to the Pacific Ocean.

Balgowlah Heights, Forty Baskets Beach, baths

The view from the baths at Forty Baskets Beach, in the northern suburb of Balgowlah Heights. The beach is named after a catch of 40 baskets of fish sent to a contingent of New South Wales troops detained at the nearby North Head Quarantine Station after returning from Sudan in 1885. The boats are moored in North Harbour, one of the three harbours that make up Port Jackson. In the distance is a ferry at Manly Ferry wharf, on Manly Cove.

Manly, Oceanides

'Oceanides'  is a sculpture of two sea nymphs located on the side of the rock pool at Fairy Bower Beach, in the northern suburb of Manly. The sculpture was created by Helen Leete in 1997. The Okeanides in Greek mythology were sea nymphs that were part human and part sea creature.

Manly, Shelly Beach

Shelly Beach is located in the northern suburb of Manly. Not to be confused with the other Shelly Beach in Sydney, in the southern suburb of Cronulla. This one is close to North Head of Sydney Harbour and a locality known as Fairy Bower. On the western point of the beach is a famous surf break known as the "Bower". Shelly Beach is the only inland facing ocean beach on the east coast of Australia.
