Circular Quay does become quite crowded at this time of year. The Carnival Spirit cruise ship was moored at the Overseas Passenger Terminal this week. The whale watching cruises that depart from the ferry wharves are very popular. The Hop On Hop Off Ferry and water taxis also stop here. Last night, the foreshore, especially between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, was also crowded with people, who had come from all around Australia and the World to see the fireworks on Sydney Harbour. The New Year's Eve 2014 theme was "Inspire" with the colourful banners seen here along the foreshore also displayed around the city. Happy New Year.
Dear Jim, Even our local newspaper was writing about the fireworks in Sydney. I hope you can make some pictures from this event! I envy you because I am a great fan of firework. Especially with music. Groetjes Hetty
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear, Hetty. I didn't venture right down to Sydney Harbour this year, I was a bit further away but still witnessed the fireworks from a distance.

ReplyDeleteCertainly these boats feature a range of size, design and colour. Like a gathering of watercraft. watched the Sydney and Melbourne fireworks on TV. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteChecked that out on Google Maps and now I have an image of the Sydney waterfront. Harbours are always interesting. Thanks and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteVery well captured.
ReplyDeleteWish you Happy and Prosperous New Year.
do the whales come right into the harbour or do you have to go quite a distance out to sea? sometimes we see dolphins come right into the estuary here.
ReplyDeleteThe boats travel out of the harbour but the whales can be close to the coast and can often be spotted from the beaches.
DeleteAn incredible assortment: I would be happy for a while only watching them... Happy New Year from Tuscany!
