This former warehouse is located in the inner west suburb of Glebe. It now houses the offices of the Australian Market & Social Research Society, a not-for-profit body of market and social research professionals who are dedicated to increasing the standard and understanding of market and social research in Australia.
This is an honest building - style was not its aim, but functionality was. Thus is looks as it did - and was built so well, it continues in use a century later. No frills - but so useful!
ReplyDeleteagreed totally. It reminds me of warehouses and factories built in 17th century Netherlands. All that is missing in the Sydney building is the hook over the canal below, used to raise or lower crates of stuff.
DeleteHefty is what comes to mind!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good new use of the building- which feels quite enduring.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a swiftly tilting street!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite right. This street certainly is on an incline. Well spotted.
DeleteOh, look at those long shadows! You can almost tell the time of day by them.
ReplyDeleteI recall seeing that warehouse about thirty years ago. Thanks for the memory. Great to connect with another scenic blogger.
ReplyDeleteThis warehouse looks as if it was taken in England !!
ReplyDeleteneat shadowing
ReplyDeleteI like the building, plus I am all for re-purposing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots of warehouse.
ReplyDeleteThe brick pattern around the door caught my eye.
