This former railway bridge over Ultimo Street, is in the inner city suburb of Ultimo. It is part of "The Goods Line" a disused rail corridor from Central railway station from Railway Square through Ultimo to Darling Harbour. It is currently being redeveloped as a pedestrian and cycle network to create a new urban hub. The bridge has recently been restored and had this identifying sign attached.
Nice to see they are doing that instead of demolishing them like they do here.
ReplyDeleteI think it's nice that they have preserved it and use it as an attraction. Nice picture!
ReplyDeleteCurious name: Ultimo in Italian means "last"...good line, good shot! Arianna

A bridge with a lot of character!
ReplyDeleteNice street scene.
ReplyDeleteMy SIGNS, SIGNS
That's a nice looking font for this sign.
ReplyDeleteOld rail tracks make great paths.
We have a similar one called the belt line - but this is a much nicer looking sign.
ReplyDeleteThey are doing that here too! It is such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteThe bridge looks to be a good shape. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteAbandoned rail lines have such fine potential uses. In New York City, the High Line has become one of the city's favorite tourist destinations. On Cape Cod, the old lines have been turned into bike trails.
ReplyDeleteUrban light rail has been converted into useful space, gardens, and bike paths. What a perfect name for this one.
ReplyDeletepretty neat name!
ReplyDeleteLovely re-purposing!
ReplyDeleteGreat street capture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat looking bridge. It's great they are restoring it and using it to help pedestrians transverse the roads.
