Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House stands on the end of Bennelong Point between Farm Cove and Circular Quay. This view across Sydney Harbour is from the north shore suburb of Kirribilli. It was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and opened in 1973. This multi-venue performing arts centre was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.

I'm going on holidays for the next few weeks so I'll be taking a break from posting until early September.

Martin Place, The Bike Bike (Theme Day: Bicycle)

The 'Bike Bike' was a temporary sculpture by Alisdair Nicol in Martin Place, near Macquarie Street. The sculpture was a 12 metre high Penny Farthing bicycle constructed from used and recycled bicycles, in such a way that they could be reused after the installation period. It was installed for the Art & About Sydney festival in 2010 and it challenged us to think about transport and the implications for our environment.
