Barangaroo, sign

This suburb information sign is located along the boardwalk in the inner city suburb of Barangaroo. The name Barangaroo honours an indigenous woman from Sydney's early history who was a powerful and colourful figure in the colonisation of Australia. She was also the wife of Bennelong, another important indigenous figure after whom Bennelong Point is named which is the site of the Sydney Opera House. This view includes apartments along King Street Wharf, the new W Hotel at Cockle Bay, the Barangaroo ferry wharves, the Sofitel Hotel at Darling Harbour and the Australian National Maritime Museum.

These long benches along the boardwalk at Darling Harbour provide great views across Cockle Bay to Pyrmont Bridge and the Sydney skyline.

Pyrmont, bank

 
This former bank building is located on the corner of Union Street and Patermoster Row, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. This heritage listed building was built in 1881 in the Victorian Style as a branch of the Australian Joint Stock Bank, which operated from 1852 to 1910. It is now home to a Cosmetic Clinic.

Pyrmont, Whale Tales

"Whale Tales" is an art trail event featuring 30 whale tail sculptures installed around Sydney Harbour from Barangaroo to Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour and Blackwattle Bay. The artwork created by 30 different artists will be auctioned to raise money for The Kids’ Cancer Project. These sculptures were located at Pyrmont from the Australian National Maritime Museum to The Star Casino, Union Square and the Fish Market.

Barangaroo, ferry

This ferry has just departed from a Barangaroo ferry wharf. The Friendship is a First Fleet Class ferry acquired in 1986 that is part of the fleet that operates on the Inner Harbour routes. It was named Friendship, after the one of eleven ships of the First Fleet which sailed to Australia in 1787.

This picnic shelter is located at Cook Park overlooking Botany Bay and Lady Robinsons Beach, in the eastern suburb of Monterey. It features the logo of Bayside Council which is the local government area.

Pyrmont Bay, ferry wharf

 The Pyrmont Bay ferry wharf is located on the western side of Darling Harbour, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. It was built in 2015 and is serviced by Sydney Ferries with services operating to Barangaroo and Circular Quay. A Supercat Class ferry is seen here departing from the wharf. The Endeavour replica is moored near the Australian National Maritime Museum, with the Sydney skyline as a backdrop.

Darling Harbour, Australian National Maritime Museum, Harman

These vessels are displayed at the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour. The Harman is a Royal Australian Navy motor launch built in 1944 by the firm Storey and Keers. The MV Krait is a wooden-hulled boat famous for its use during World War II by the Z Special Unit (Z Force) of Australia during the Operation Jaywick raid against Japanese ships anchored in Singapore Harbour.

Darling Harbour, Australian National Maritime Museum, John Louis

This boat is displayed at the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, with the Sydney skyline as a backdrop. The John Louis was built in 1957 and was one of the last traditional pearl shelling luggers built. In the early 20th century, Australia supplied 75% of the world's pearl shell. Luggers towed their divers over the pearl beds by drifting, often with just the sail on the after mast set.

Pyrmont Bridge, gate

This is one of four gates on the Pyrmont Bridge, a swing bridge over Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour. The bridge was designed by Percy Allan and opened to traffic in 1902. It was one of the largest spanning swing bridges in the world and one of the first to be powered by electricity. It was closed to traffic in the 1984 when freeways south of Cockle Bay were built but was restored and reopened as a pedestrian bridge with the redevelopment of Darling Harbour in 1988. The swing bridge opens for tall ships and yachts and the gates keep pedestrians back from the opening. This view features the Sydney Convention Centre, Star of the Show Ferris Wheel, the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour Hotel and the Harbourside shopping centre.

Aquarium Wharf, Hop On Hop Off Ferry

This Hop On Hop Off Ferry is moored at Aquarium Wharf in Darling Harbour, in front of Pyrmont Bridge. The sightseeing tour operates from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo and Watsons Bay.

This kiosk is located along Wulugul Walk, near Barangaroo ferry wharves. The screen provides information about ferries departures and routes. Commuters can also purchase tickets here or top up their Opal smartcard.

Ocean Dreaming 2, which is a ferry used for cruising and whale watching, is seen here arriving at King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour. It features indigenous artwork which  utilises the dendroglyph technique and features the names of clans in and around Sydney Harbour.

This control tower is on the Pyrmont Bridge, a swing bridge over Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour. The bridge was designed by Percy Allan and opened to traffic in 1902. The bridge links the central business district with Pyrmont. The swing bridge opens for tall ships and yachts at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm on weekends and public holidays.

Napoleon Plaza

Napoleon Plaza, railway station entrance (Theme Day: My Superpower)

A view of the entrance to Wynyard railway station from Napoleon Plaza, on the corner of Napoleon Street and Kent Street. The large glass awning covers stairs and escalators down to the pedestrian tunnel called Wynyard Walk which links Barangaroo to Wynyard railway station. A glass lift is on the right and the Western Distributor off ramp is above. My Superpower for theme day is taking a photo without any people around. I wait around until all the people have moved out of shot to get that perfect photo.
