The Rocks, New York Hotel

The former New York Hotel is located along George Street at The Rocks. This five storey building is one of two heritage listed buildings built in 1908 in the Federation Free architectural style that formed the hotel. In the late 1980s, a large commercial building called the DFS Galleria, was erected behind it with the facades of this and a number of other buildings incorporated into the complex.

Surry Hills, St Michael's Anglican Church

St Michael's Anglican Church is located on the corner of Flinders Street and Albion Street in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. This heritage listed church was designed by Edmund Blacket and built in 1854 in the Gothic Revival architectural style.

Botanic Gardens, Tarpeian Way

A Ghost Gum tree located at the edge of the Botanic Gardens near the Tarpeian Way Gate, looking towards the Sydney skyline. Tarpeian Way is the pathway that runs along the edge of the steep cliff known as the Tarpeian Wall.

Cook and Phillip Park, bridge

Looking across the pedestrian bridge from The Domain towards Yurong Water Garden in Cook and Phillip Park and Sydney skyline rising behind it. It crosses over St Marys Road, at the intersection with Riley Street, Yurong Parkway and Sir John Young Crescent.

The Domain, Veil of Trees

"Veil of Trees" is an art installation located in the nature strip between the two sides of Mrs Macquaries Road at The Domain, just outside the Royal Botanic Gardens. It was created in 1999 by Janet Laurence and Jisuk Han. It consists of a line of forest red gum tree plantings and glass panels embedded with seeds, ash, honey, resin with fragments of prose and poems by Australian writers, inspired by the landscape.

Botanic Gardens, Love Led Them

"Love Led Them" is a bronze sculpture of a Cupid, a young boy with bow and arrows and wings, on a marble plinth set in the central pond of the Pioneer Memorial Garden, in the Royal Botanic Gardens. It was sculpted by Paul Raphael Montford and marks the precise spot of the centre of the dome of the former Garden Palace, a grand exhibition building built in 1879 that burnt down three years later.

'Near Kin Kin' is an art installation in Customs Square, in front of Customs House near Circular Quay. This soaring 21-metre bamboo sculpture has been created by Cave Urban, a research and design studio, for the Art & About Sydney Festival.

Paddington, The Village Inn

The Village Inn is located on the corner of Glenmore Road and Gipps Street, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. This heritage hotel was built in 1888 as The Rose and Crown Hotel replacing an 1853 hotel on this site with the same name. In 1920 a third story was added to the front section and in 1925 the space was enlarged and the façade of the hotel was altered in 1930 when a street awning was added.

Paddington, Royal Hospital for Women Park

The Royal Hospital for Women Park is located in the inner city suburb of Paddington. It is bounded by Brown Street, Glenmore Road and Flinton Street. It takes its name from the Royal Hospital for Women which stood on the site and surrounding land between 1901 and 1997.

Customs House, Twilight Garden

"Twilight Garden" is an art installation in the foyer of Customs House, which is part of the Art & About Sydney Festival. It has been created by Mary-Anne Kyriakou and features 12 radiant, ornamental pillars reflected in a black ‘pond’. Internal colour-changing LED lights softly transform the naturalistic imagery, reminiscent of water gardens in ancient Islamic cities.

Liverpool, Pioneers’ Memorial Park

Pioneers’ Memorial Park is located along the Hume Highway, between Campbell Street and Macquarie Street, in the south western suburb of Liverpool. This was originally the site of the cemetery of St Luke's Anglican Church. In 1970, the cemetery was converted into a rest park, featuring original headstones and a memorial wall.

This tram waits at the Capitol Square Light Rail Stop along Hay Street at Haymarket, on its way to Central Railway Station. The Corporation Building is the heritage listed building that can be seen in the background.

Herald Square, The Children’s Fountain

The sculpture is part of The Children’s Fountain otherwise known as The Tank Stream Fountain in Herald Square, on the corner of George Street and Alfred Street near Circular Quay. The bronze fountain was created by Stephen Walker and presented to the City of Sydney in 1981 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper in 1831. It features flora and fauna including frogs, snakes, goannas and tortoises. A plaque set into the ground reads: “The Children’s Fountain - Dedicated to all the children who have played around the Tank Stream. Presented by John Fairfax & Sons Limited, 1981″.

The Rocks, bank

The former English, Scottish & Australian Chartered Bank is a heritage listed building along George Street at The Rocks. It was designed by William Wilkinson Wardell and built in 1886 in the Gothic Revival architectural style. It now houses an Italian restaurant.

Homebush Bay, Brickpit Ring Walkway

The Brickpit Ring Walkway is located above a pond in the western suburb of Homebush Bay. The pond was originally a brickpit which was to be redeveloped as a tennis complex, as part of Olympic Park for the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics. However, during construction the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog was discovered living here, so the habitat was protected. The Brickpit Ring Walkway was built to allow visitors to view the habitat from above.

Land Titles Office

This view of the Land Titles Office, which is located along Prince Albert Road, is from Queens Square at the top of Macquarie Street. This heritage listed building was designed by Walter Liberty Vernon and Edward Herbert Farmer and built in 1913 in the Neo-Gothic architectural style. 'Land and Property Information' is a state government department located here, responsible for the land title registry which defines the legal ownership and boundaries of land parcels throughout New South Wales.

Customs Square, Living Colour

'Living Colour' creates vibrant floral displays around the city and inner city suburbs every year in Spring. These flowers and plants are located at Customs Square, in front of Customs House near Circular Quay. The planter boxes feature snapdragons, celosia and curly parsley, blue and burgundy petunias, euphorbia, ageratum and bromeliads.
